The Obama administration disclosed the size of its atomic stockpile going back to 1962 as part of a campaign to get other nuclear nations to be more forthcoming, and to improve its bargaining position against the prospect of a nuclear Iran.


"We think it is in our national security interest to be as transparent as we can be about the nuclear program of the United States," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters at the United Nations, where she addressed a conference on containing the spread of atomic weapons.


The U.S. has previously regarded such details as top secret.


The figure includes both "strategic," or long-range weapons, and those intended for use at shorter range.

its probably vastly under stated... probaly 20k nuc's, and we can ditch 5k of them to make others happy.

Its the bio weapons I'm more concerned with.

Nukes leave too much of a trail . . from the launch pad to the type of explosion & tonnage/seismic activity . . . this makes it easy to locate the aggressor nation.
 
So we divulge one of the most guarded secrets our nation has to "help at the bargaining table with Iran"? Who in the hell honestly believes that the Imam's of Iran actually give a shit about negotiations?

As for bio weapons I live about an hour away from hundreds of magazines full of bio/chem weapons. Its pretty erie driving by. Just the other day a guy got burned by some mustard gas that was leaking on the way to destruction.
 
I said it once, I'll say it again, we need to stop being such pussies. We're one of the biggest kids on the playground. You want that kid's juice box, fucking take it. In this case, were even more powerful than the teacher(UN).

We didn't stretch our nation from ocean to ocean by being nice and telling people our hand. We pissed a few people off. Right now were acting like Lenny from "Of Mice and Men". We're powerful enough to do anything, but to scared to even break wind in the presents of other.
 
I really don't think that this Administration would actually do the right thing and lie in this situation. I have a sneaking suspicion that we really do have 5k nukes. Unless, our generals and such that are in charge of the stockpile lied to the administration and gave them a number they thought they would be happy with.
 
What pisses me off is that Obama thinks that or nukes pose a threat anyone who DOESN'T attack us. The stockpile of nuclear weapons we should be worrying about is in Russia. We guard our weapons well, test them and make sure none of them are in disrepair. In the former USSR, other countries have actually stepped in to organize and track down all the devices littering the country.

Again, Obama's main objective is to make the whole world like us again - at the cost of our values and our military stance in the world theater.
