Obviously we all want a good engine management for tuning a vehicle. I've heard that the crome is not good for tuning boost cars for over 12psi because sometimes there seems to be glitches. But i've also heard of many people boosting more then that on crome and nothing wrong at all. What do you guys think about that?

I'm debating if i should blow off money on getting a better ecu like hondata/neptune/aem etc. Or if i should just retune at 12 psi on crome.

crome is a hack....get hondata

lmfao
crome is not a hack
a hack is a piggyback system (safc, vafc, etc) that does NOT alter the map inside the ecu. it just adjusts some voltages to certain sensors to trick the ecu and make it run a certain way.

crome alters the map inside the ecu (hence the need for a chipped/socketed ecu)

crome is an excellent program to tune with. best of all, its free.
you buy hondata (already expensive) then you have to go PAY someone to tune it with the system you just bought. a waste IMO.

i paid my tuner $100 over 3 tunes ago, plus $100 in dyno fees.
basically i paid $200 to get to 320whp.

youre going to spend a LOT more than that with hondata
hondata DOES go into more detail. but CROME will do just fine. theres a reason why its so popular.

edit:
crome is NOT unstable over 12psi, whoever told you that is an idiot. ive seen the program on cars running 550ish whp with no issues.

No crome is a hack. I'm not talking about the piggy back shit. Crome is worthless, guess why its free? I've used it and hate it. Neptune and ectune are much better alternatives to hondata.

Crome isn't nearly as popular as it used to be. everyone started seeing the obvious shortfalls and began changing to other tuning software.

This is my experience: I have used crome and the bad things i notice is that i could never get the car to idle right with the A/C being on, and the when using bigger injectors like i have Precision 880cc with a resistor box the crome dont have the proper fuel trim adjustment, it was causing the to flood when you shut the ignition off or if the car cuts off on its own it will not start back because the bigger injectors will flood the system so it was a big pain. other than that it work fine for me with 450 injectors making 320whp with Crome, Currently I'm using Hondata S300 and is very happy with it. I don't recomend Neptune, its a pain to tune and the graph could never be clean always some glitch. Good Luck.

crome is plenty for most cars. I've tuned a few on it and it's been more than enough.

Would i use it on a race car? probably not.

But for a <400 hp car, it was pllenty of features to get a safe reliable tune out of.

Crome is good tuning software only problem I have had using it was using a Converted auto to manual ECU.

how is crome a hack? you still failed to answer that question.

CROME works just fine.

:werd:

Crome is not a hack, it's just another program and there's two version of it(one is free). A local tuning shop, RLZ, has been making a lot of power with Crome.

ummm my advaice use the s300 hondata ecu only if u going for something right if not just use crome and i'll tell u crome have a few proplems other that it worck just fine

by hack I meant crap. Im running crome pro...hate it. I want my s200 back. Crome does work but that doesnt mean its good. Spend some money and get neptune, ectune or hondata.

i have never once run into someone that doesnt like crome pro.
sounds like a user issue to me.

what is so bad about crome pro (specifics, not just "it sucks")?

from a tuning perspective, i can't imagine one getting a better tune on s200 over crome.

From a user perspective, the hondata interface is a little bit more refined, sure.. but it also costs a lot more money.

As simple as :

hondata or crome , at the end , Honda ECU only knows one language to read. either is Hondata or Crome who is sending the information, hondata has an fancy way to do that . John Cui (crome creator) did something very smart , they gave us a peak of what crome was about creating the free version. then creating an option to advance users to datalog with the pro version. and at the end Dealer version with the Gold feature, totally rocks. I've tuned a lot of cars already with crome and hondata and standalones (AEM EMS, megasquirt, DTA ) , and they all have nice features and nice ways to work . with nice results , I believe the most important thing is who is behind the laptop.

Personally i use Neptune, its pretty much Hondata but cheaper, though make sure there are tuners in your area who can do it, there are only a handful in MD.
