i got a 94 b 18 lower end and im plannin on some 81.5 mm low comp pistons in a stroker kit. on the top i got a 94 b16 head and i wanna put some stg.2 skunk2 cams and all the other valve terrain. well to the point im tryin to figue out what comp to go with, should i bore the head and block and wether i should sleeve or gaurd the block. any help would be very appriciated
 
why a stroker kit? just keep the stock stroke.
itll be safer to rev higher and actually use the b16 head's powerband.

also, no need to sleeve unless you were going above ~350whp
block guards are a waste of your time

Actually, block guards are not a waste of time, they indeed add strength. The problem is, they will shift the cylinder walls slightly (cannot be seen by the eye nor does it occur until the motor reaches op temp). I have had several engine builders recommend them as a good strengthening alternative, but the motor MUST be honed with the guard in-place prior to putting the engine back together. This will help adjust any imperfections created by putting the guard in place.

SLEEVES however, are a joke. I have never seen a Honda motor that actually needed any, also because I have never seen a Honda motor make the kind of cylinder pressure or rev high enough to justify the rediculous price of sleeving a block.

youre right, thats why so many people building Hondas for drag racing are using block guards, and not re-sleeving the bottom end.

honda engines have decently high compression from the factory (generally speaking, not ALL engines), that combined with a decent amount of pressure added from some sort of forced induction means PLENTY of reasons to re-sleeve a block.
