I'm having all 4 of my teeth yanked out sometime after june 8th (my consult date). I'm doing some reading around trying to figure out wtf to eat.
most people are saying milkshakes, pudding, etc

well, i'm lactose intolerant, so that isn't going to happen. Plus, most pain meds react with dairy (oxy's, perks, vikes, etc, so it depends what they give me)

applesauce, italian ice/freeze pops are about the only things i can think of for day 1 (cold only).
day 2 it looks like i can add in some hot food, like mashed potatoes.

I'm thinking about going to GNC or something and getting "weight gainer 2000" or some other high calorie mix with water type drinks that actually have energy and vitmins in it too... maybe even some slim fast or ensure for old people.

any other ideas/suggestions/stuff you ate when you got yours out?

ensure might be the best ticket
they are expensive, but have about 250 calories per bottle
i bought myself a 6 pack of chocolate for when i miss meals
but i haven't tried it yet so i cant recommend a flavor

When I had my wisdom teeth out I was drinking hot chicken noodle soup broth that night, thats one thing you could do for Day 2.

first day all i had was a milkshake, but i wasnt that hungry the first day anyway. after that i had stuff like mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, oatmeal, grits, applesauce, etc

oatmeal is a winner. get some soups and such.

just get a magic bullet. blend up whatever you want.

and wisdom teeth are overrated. if you heal well, you should be able to eat whatever in 2-3 days.

or Boost .. thats what i drank when i was doing chemo because i wasnt eating hardly anything.. i'd pour it in a blender w/ ice and a banana to make a chocolate/banana shake

when i had mine yanked i had applesauce and ice cream the first day...

second day i was doing soups, noodles, pasta, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc....

by the 3rd day i was just about back to regular foods... still couldnt really fuck with steak or anything... but chicken was fine

only thing to remember is to always rinse with listerine after eating or drinking anything other than water

they should give you a little syringe type thing with a plastic nozzle on it for spraying out the holes where your teeth were... use it... youd be amazed how much food and shit gets stuck back there

oh and stay away from peanuts until you are completely healed... nothing sucks worse than trying to dig half a fucking peanut out of your sore jaw when it gets stuck in the hole where your tooth use to be

everything i've read has said NOT to use scope/listerine/etc and to only use salt+water solution for rinsing.

i used the warm salt water rinse in the syringe, after brushing my teeth, and before bed

when i was out and around i used the listerine

*** i also got mine done about 14 years ago so im sure the popular opinions on how to go about caring for them afterward has changed somewhat

:werd:

Wisdom teeth removal is definitely a case-by-case type of thing. I was back to eating pretty much regularly (but carefully) by the end of the second day and they gave me a script for Vicodin but I never ended up using it. Regular Tylenol worked fine for me...

Spam Smoothie FTW!

Does anybody else hate the fact that they can't rep E or Klyph on a daily basis?

I had mine removed in January. I lived on pudding and Spaghetti-ohs.

The great thing about spaghetti-ohs, is that you dont really have to chew them.

I ate Panda Express the next day. Not too proud of that, but I never had a problem with solid food - shitty, tough General's Chicken to be exact.
