I know you can't tell how much horse an engine will make without a dyno, but I had my car on a dyno and i was shocked at the results. Here is what I have, tell me if it should have made 142hp i was hoping VERY BEST at 185 but more than 160.

b20z
forged pistons 11:1
crower 403s w/ springs and retainers
Aem v2 intake
2 1/4 exhaust (cat delete)
dc sports type r exhaust manifold (i know they suck, but they were the right price)
68mm tb
skunk2 intake man
rc 370cc injectors
Aem fuel rail and pressure regulator (i know they don't make hp)
competition stage 2 clutch
competition 12lb flywheel

it was tuned by matt shue one of the best tuners on the east coat deff the best in VA

I hit 167 yesterday on a LS with

nippon 82mm USDM ITR pisons

JG P&P LS head .5mm OS valves

Crower 403's

Ebay short ram

Ebay ITR replica header

skunk2 intake mani

RC 310 injectors

tuned on crome

You're leaving a lot of things out...

How high did you rev?
Atmospheric conditions?
Dyno type?
Air/fuel ratio?
Aggressiveness of timing?

Lots of factors...

yeah we have the same basic build. you have the p and p but that does not give you 25 horse.

You're leaving a lot of things out...

How high did you rev? 7.5k
Atmospheric conditions? i'm in richmond we are about 32 ft above sea level and it was humid 75 with light showers
Dyno type? dynojet
Air/fuel ratio? idk
Aggressiveness of timing? i had the cams degreed in this morning. then my tuner had to change the time 17 degrees!

the congrats on having a well build engine. I just feel as though mine should be making more than 142 ... stock they are rated at 146. sure that's at the crank but still. the engine is freshly rebuild too. so i was expecting that full 124 whp then I thought all the goodies would have added more than 22 hp.

that does seem really low... sorry dude. i would think with the high cr and cams would make more than that.

from what ive seen, bone stock b20s with just boltons (intake, header, test pipe, exhaust) usually makes around 130whp.

Were the cams 'straight up'?
Advanced or retarded?
What octane fuel?
Chipped ECU or stock? (Stock as in B20 or re-mapped 'other')
O2 sensor good?
Ported head?
Is that fuel reg adjustable?
Injectors-- New or used and flowed? (Or, "Dude, I gots these for sale CHEAP!.. They're _______cc's)

That does sound kinda low.. Hope my build gets more but won't be dyno'd.
Too much $$$.

E

shell 93 pump gas
s300
pretty new OEM o2 sensor
AEM adjustable fpr
used RC injectors
I had the cams degreed, i don't understand what you mean "straight up"

you'll have to put in on a dyno to tune your build... the dyno was like $80

I would say that seems a little low. I'd be checking spark plugs, injectors, and then I'd do a compression test.

alright I did a lot of research and found good info. the dyno that I used always reads 5% low. and i was told the wrong numbers. it was 147 not 142 then add the 5% and we made it to .... 155 and that is MUCH more reasonable than 142. when I get a good p&p and a real exhaust set up i should me making 165-170ish that's livable for non vtec
