got this car for free it got like 250,000 miles...was lookin into an h22 or h23 but after i looked at some of these posts im not to sure about it anymore i just want to get like 300 horses plus a turbo and i want it vtec plus i wanna convert to stick, and wat about puttin a DOHC in, but is it worth it:confused:

In my own personal opinion, if its a 4 door, I would just chill with the car and enjoy the fact you can lower it make it look good and daily drive it to god knows where.

Now if its a 2 door, I would go with just some junkyard turbo the F22 for right now. That way you stay happy with the car. Then while I'm enjoying my super sweet sounds of a blow off valve, have a h22 on a engine stand and build it up with forged pistons and rods, an ACT clutch that can handle the torque output, simple head work. Such as, titanium valve spring retainers and locks, dual valve springs. Decent cams with a decent set of cam gears that don't slip or require to have the bolts on them torqued to 1k lbs. Then top it off with a skunk 2 intake manifold with the head ported to match the intake. And maybe if the budget allows it a bigger throttle body. Really with a endless budget you can build anything with time research and knowledge of wtf your doing. My list can go on forever. But I have no idea what your budget is and what your actually looking wanting.

its a 4 door but would it be pointless to make it fast anyway i was thinkin clutch conversion, i mean im not plannin on racin wit it i just want it to have some balls and still look good at the same time and be reliable 4 daily driver, as far as the budget goes i wanna keep dis car so its no limit right now its just gonna take time, but i like dat plan u got wit the h22 it sounds nasty, i just want some power and definetly turbo

We have had a 92 EX for about 7yrs as the 'family' car and just re-ringed it when I was doing the timing belt job. One of the most reliable cars that I've owned.
I even got the "S" from an SE and made it say Accord SEX under the trunk lid and it took my wife almost 4 months before she noticed.. (she didn't get THAT mad about it though)
You'll be able to haul all sorts of crap/friends too.
I'd say lean from this one and search for a two door (if you get tired of being the 'taxi' with your friends)
I remember seeing a cool two door convertible a few years ago. Looked real sleek. A real pro-job.

I still have a set of Tokico blues and Newspeed springs for one. It was too low for me and took them off. There should be a pic somewhere in the for sale section way back.

here ya go get a set of these and its got balls automatically

if this is your first project, start off with a simple goal.

at 250,000 miles, the stock engine is likely tired unless it has been EXTREMELY well maintained and driven nicely. the likelihood of that isnt all that great, so im going to assume it's tired.

you have one of two (feasible) options here:
1) keep the f22, slap an h22 head on it and enjoy
2) swap an h22 into the car

these are the only two things id recommend for you as a beginner. stay away from forced induction until you have a full grasp of basic concepts.

as Hownduh stated, you dont want to make this an expensive mess, and it very easily could become one.

Clarify for me please, do you want 300 horses overall? Or you want to build the motor up to 300 horses and THEN add a turbo? If it's the latter, well, that's not really the way it works...

If you want it to be reliable for daily driving but to have some balls as well, then just drop an H22 in it and call it good. That's an instant 200 horsepower, and since the older Accord chassis is fairly small and light, that should make for a decently peppy car.

I'd say just do the H22 swap first and see how you feel about the car. You may find that just the engine swap alone provides you with the power you want...

thanx for the info fellas yall cleared up alota things for me, i think i might just do the H swap see wat it feels like i dnt need a 10 sec car anyway, but i was lookin at another honda site and i seen something bout a cb7 and a cd7 wat are those different blocks? And i was sittin in ma car cuz its in the driveway i got title problems so its not legal right now, and i turned it on and the D4 gear on the dash was blinkin, soon to be trans disaster maybe?

CB and CD are chassis codes. CB = 90-93 Accords, and CD = 94-97 Accords.

As for the transmission problem, I'm not quite sure what that's all about. Sorry... :(

well fuk it cuz im plannin on convertin it anyway somethin to match ma soon to be h22 swap, also do h23 fit in there and would i benefit from it cuz i do want to make sure a have a Vtec

the D4 flashing i have had the same problem with my 92 accord. I don't drive it right now cause I'm doing a swap on it. but when i did drive it while the d4 was flashing, its like your driving in second gear and it never shifts. What I did was turn off my car and let it sit for a bit (like 2-15 mins). Then I would start it up again. and sometimes it would be alright after that sometimes the problem didn't leave. but it only did it when it would have problems starting. I've got 200,000+ miles on the f22 engine as well. And I hear this is a common problem for most of the 92 accords.

If you want to convert it to a manual, look long and hard for a junker that is a 5 speed and buy it cheap. You don't want to have to buy the conversion piece by piece. Here are most of the things you will need:

Clutch pedal assembly
Transmission
Axles
Manual ECU
Engine Harness
Clutch Master Cylinder and reservoir
Clutch Slave Cylinder
Dash Trim
Shifter Linkage
Hard Brake line (goes between master and slave cylinder)

There are possibly some other odds and ends, but I say all of that to illustrate you would have a lot to round up- I bet you could just pull that stuff out of a cheap $200-500 car that's junk and still sell the leftover car for what you paid for it, effectively making your swap free. Then buy an H22 somewhere for $1000ish on a good day.

You can always just buy a cam for the F22 and do a full intake and exhaust system, but a used tranny from Tiger Japanese for $150 or whatever they give them away for:

Tiger Japanese Auto Parts LTD - F22A Automatic Transmission Honda Accord 90-93

Seriously, with 25-35k on it, it would last forever if you just keep the fluid changed ever 15k or so. Really though it boils down to time and money. If you have lots of both, and a second car to drive, it's not impossible to convert it to a stick and put an H22 in it, even to turbo it. Just don't forgot to weigh out all the costs, then compare it to just buying a stock 97+ Prelude. The price of older cars is coming down to much I may just wait a couple of years and buy an S2000 instead of getting around to doing a swap in my Accord.

yea i think imma just get the h22 vtec and convert wit da h22 trans, thanx for da knowledge yall i check back in if i get stumped
