I'm thinking about planning a weekend trip down there. Anyone know any cheaper but still nice hotels?

I know this is gonna bring 1 million spammers:

Low low rates myrtle beach getway <Linktopenis></linktopenis>

heh, a few friends go every now and again for the bike week thing. i think its around this time of year. i've never been.

Its nice, every single time I go there always seems to be a huge swarm of jellyfish.... other than that its a really good vacation spot.

I dislike myrtle beach VS the other places around there that get less exposure. I'm not a big party person so less = more. If you want to be drunk 24/7 then myrtle beach is the best thing around that area, however if you want to vacation and enjoy yourself check out another place.

hilton head was awesome last time I went.

I'll check that out. I don't want to party, just a nice relaxing weekend. Was thinking about Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head, or even VA beach.

Also check out the "Crystal Coast" in NC.

I'm actually in myrtle beach right now. I don't party to much and I enjoy myrtle beach. There are tons of stuff to do here and tons of stuff for the little ones too. You have broadway at the beach which is a huge group of shops and resteraunts. The Ripleys Aquarium is also there. Id post more but my girlfriend is getting pissed because she hates the sound of me typing on my phone.

That and the ungodly amount of miniature golf places right next to the beach lol

If you're not a party person then I suggest going somewhere else like Hilton Head, Kitty Hawk (anywhere in the OBX actually), or that Crystal Coast place above looks nice.

There are lots of college kids partying around the clock in Myrtle Beach, kids drunk and stumbling on the beach and up and down the strip. And the beach and strip were just trashy, garbage everywhere. Now I have to say that I went during beach week so I'm sure it's not like that all the time, I just happened to see it at its worst.

When you have time I'd like to hear more.

I alwayd disliked Myrtle Beach because it was pretty crowded. Pawleys Island isn't too far from it and it is a really good place to go if you prefer just beach houses beer and the beach.

I've just got back to the house and back to my computer so I can finally type in peace. Yes there are TONS of mini golf places, ranging from pirates to jungle safaris. Broadway at the beach has quite a few shops, like candy stores, magic stores, hat stores, LOTS of novelty stores, and your everyday clothing stores. The Aquarium is pretty fun, but expensive. I think it was around $42 for my girlfriend and I to spend about 3 hours there. There is an underwater tunnel where you can ride a conveyor belt type thing and look at sharks, eels, sea turtles, and many other sea creatures. Lol. They have feeding times where divers go in and feed the fish and you can watch them. You have Nascar Speed Park which is right across the road. Its a huge arcade and lots of go-cart tracks. But when I looked yesterday the big track was closed. Its still fun though.

Alligator adventure is also fun, well it was for me. Like the aquarium they also have feeding times where you can watch them make the alligators jump out of the water. They have the largest known crocodile in captivity there. They have lemurs, sea otters, beavers, birds, turtles, and just about any other reptile. I think this was around $36 for both of us and you get in a second day for free.

There is all kinds of stuff to do there. But its better when its not crowded. Need any more info just let me know.

This is more my style, but I'd also like to be close enough to the hub-bub to check out some surf shops, aquariums and shit like that.

Jizared, That all sounds pretty good. It really makes me want to go, but like I said, I'd like to get somewhere beachfront for not tooooooo much money. Probably going to do a "leave Thursday afternoon, get there Friday morning, sleep a little, then spend Friday-Saturday there, then leave sunday morning" thing, so I don't want to spend a whole lot on a room we're not going to use much, but I don't want to stay at the cockroach inn, and I don't wanna feel ripped off for staying thursday night since I'll only get a weekend there...

On that note, where does everyone stay and is it pricey? (Prices if you don't mind, if not just say if it was pricey or not)

About 7 years ago I went to Avon with my family, rented a house on the ocean front, and it was beautiful. Stopped at in Kill Devil Hills for breakfast and drove through Kitty Hawk and Nags Head.

We had a condo that was beach front on the main strip at myrtle. We stayed 6 days and it was about 1200. It was at the best western carolinian. It was a pretty nice hotel that was far enough away from the noise but not away from everything to do.
