Well, I got a DSLR a while back and Ive been takin pictures like crazy. For the first time in a long time Im doing something that I strive to be better at. I recently got my wireless flash setup, so Ive been playin with the "Strobist" style of photography. So far, I like. Here are some recent pictures I got with 2 flashes, one on each side of the camera. One at about 5.5' and one at about a foot.

And here is a shot of one of my lenses. One flash on each side, camera level, and one center underneath the camera.

Anybody else have any photography to share? And yes I realize there was another thread like this a while back, but its long dead.

The camera with just the lense in the first 2 can be had for about 800, the lens in the last one was only like 60 bucks, its an old full manual prime lens (one of the most popular manual lenses). I got 2 used Nikon flashes for 150 each, and 2 new third party (Nikon equivelant) flashes for 150 each. Then cheap stands, a remote and a tripod for < 100. These results can be had for less, this is just the route I took lol.

i've been wanting to get a lighting setup.. i'm sure i'd take more pics if i did.. also thought about changing one of my rooms to a white room

A huge white sheet does wonder lol. And its easily moved.

Good pictures, is that you?

Yup. It was a quick test in the back yard, so I figured Id take a self portrait lol.

wow very good quality pics bro...

Thanks!

(off the wall question) do you always wear a white t under your shirts?

should have just bumped the other thread, its gone through dead periods since conception, but bumped every now and again with new pics.

but, looks good. i have been wanting to just get an on camera flash. i dont have enough patience to set up and tear down all of that equip and carry it around.

i should post some of the pics i have taken lately, been too lazy to do anything with it, but have plenty of pics. lol.

Alot of the time. Durring the one week of summer a year up here, I dont.

me too. back in 1996...

Lol, Ive always worn 2 T's. No real reason, deffinitely not for fashion or anything like that.

Ya, even just using a flash in the hot shoe makes pictures look soo much better. I used the flash on camera for about a month before I got my triggers. And post some pictures up. Lets see em.

I still do and always do. No sense in sweat staining all my good shirts when tshirts are 8 bucks for a 4 pack.

Anyway, Newb, you kind of look like Wil (Civicious), only not as pissed off.

Ha, or getting sweat all over you shirt while your out for the night. That would be bad.

Lol, well Im usually smiling so even just that serious look was kinda challenging for me.

I always do with polos or button-ups, but only sometimes with other t-shirts...

Nice pics by the way! :D

It's not all that bad if you just use speedlights instead of studio strobes. I recently picked up a couple light stands, the Cactus v4 radio triggers, a Vivitar 285, another off brand similar flash, and 32" Wescott umbrella. It's a simple kit, but it will work for most things. I've been wanting to get out and shoot some bike or skate photos but haven't had time. For the most part, the flashes have just been used to light my diy lightbox for ebay sales. Right after I got the flash setup I bought a couple nice medium format cameras, a Minolta Autocord and a Mamiya M645, and have mainly been using those unless I absolutely have to use the digital. If it weren't for selling so much stuff on ebay on a regular basis, I would probably just sell my dslr altogether.

Pull that shit out and use it. Shooting B&W is cheap and easy to develop at home. Freestyle photo in LA will get supplies to you the next day, I think. They get to me here near Pismo the next day, so over in bakersfield I think they would too. It's probably an AE-1, I can't remember ever hearing of an AT-1, but then again I'm mostly a Minolta/sony shooter, no canon stuff.
