It's only stupid if it doesn't work

Got my oil changed yesterday. After I pick it up, it had a CEL. Sweet. Bring it home, Code 70: Automatic transaxle. 1997 Integra RS with about 160k on it. I reset the ECU hoping it would just clear, no dice.

A few questions.
1) How many different possibilities could this be?

2) Could the shop have done something to cause this? Or is it just bad luck that it came on when not in my possession?

3) What should I do about getting this fixed?

70- Accord Civic CRV CRX Del Sol Odyssey Prelude

malfunction with the automatic transmission controls

Doesn't sound too ominious :dunno:

Does it cause the car to run in limp mode? Or is it just a little annoying yellow light?

At the moment it runs fine (knock on wood). A little trouble starting today but it does that ocassionally. Don't think it's related at all anyway. I just have work all weekend and an interview on Tuesday. All of which I need to go to. If the interview goes well the Integra will be a project vehicle in the near future. I just hope it makes it to that point.

Wait, how come you didn't change it yourself??

did they drain your tranny fluid instead of your oil?
I doubt it, they did the tranny flush on it a few months ago as well.

Not worth my time. It costs the same to have it done then to do it myself. Then I have to dispose of the oil at the county recycling center half an hour away.

I'll probably be bringing it back to the same shop on Monday. Hasta la vista tax return money.

Hook it up to a scanner and see what the actual code is. It'll help pin point the problem a little bit.

Car ran fine until tonight when I stopped to get gas. Started it up after filling up, no CEL. Guess the tranny just had the hiccups.
