is the fan burnt out
is it plugged in
is there power at the plug
is the temp sensor broken

have you done ANY trouble shooting at all

there are a lot of reasons a fan wont come on

i dunno why but this happened to my ride, my headgasket was bad and i just replaced it, my fans wouldnt come on before it ran hot. ever since i replaced the headgasket w a better quality one, my fans work fine. i did at first straight wire my fans so i knew it was still coming on. but the other day i was curious to see if it would work w out the riggin' and they came one... this may be irrelevent but i never woulda thought or believed it would happen if i didnt see it myself.

This might sound stupid but replace your radiator cap. If the gasket is bad u loose pressure within your cooling system.

iight thanks ima do that. i changed the thermostat and wired the fan to the battery and it still works and fuse is still good.

Hmmm, I wouldnt wire the fan to the battery. have a little class and put in a nice little switch under dash, or in dash. Wiring it to the battery causes an electrical fire hazard and is an unnecessary consumption of power, not to mention that you'll be drastically shortening the life of your fan. I have a switch wired into my Opel Corsa because the temp sensor died twice in two months and I had to wire in a bridge to get home. Now I have the switch so I can turn on the fan when I want, usually before the sensor turns on the fan. It isnt wired to the battery, I just cut into the wire where the sensor is and essentially created a bridge that I can open or close from inside the car. It's important to run cool in Mexico with high mountains (I live at 9000 meter altitude) and whatnot heating things up. (I'm from Indiana originally)

I just bought a 97 Acura 2.2 CL 5 speed hence my presence here. I really like the CL. Reminds me a lot of the G2 Legend LS coupe that I had 10 years ago.

Hope everybody here will be helpful when I get posting privileges as I wanna modify the motor a bit for mild street.

If your fan works fine when you jump power to it, more than likely, either your temperature sensor is bad, or fan switch (basically a sensor as well.) Break out your manual, go to your wire schematics, check which wire is where and what wire goes where, do some testing to find out if you have a connection to either your sensor, or fuse. FIX IT RIGHT.

yea bled the coolant syastem. miss blow smoke....? idk. i havent driven it that long or had it on that long to see any smoke. before i cange the rad it smoked i guess cause of the crack that was in it. but it hasnt done it after that it goes to normal temp and when i accelerate it goes hot. my pops said it the oil is white or something its the head gasket but oil is fine...

Well the oil always doesnt mix with the coolant I blew my head gasket and the oil looked fine. unplug the temp switch and get a piece of wire and jump the connector on the harness if the fan turns on with the key the temp switch is no good. Try that

I think it's if you have oil in your coolant, than that means your headgasket is blown. But don't quote me on that. It's been some time since I've dealt with over heating problems.

If you you find out that it IS your head gasket, be sure to get the head milled before you put everything back together. Personally, if you have the funds for a swap right now, I would just do the damn swap.

There are several different ways a headgasket can go out. If you have oil coolant mix in your oil pan or coolant system. It can also blow to where your compression strokes of the engine press pressure into the coolant system. Which will cause unusual over heating, coolant loss, and hard morning starts.

As for overheating while driving, could be a cracked head or block, also maybe a bad water pump.

I don't mean to jack your thread. But maybe we have similar problems.I have reason to believe the thermostat is gone in my car,but..... Ok when the car is at operating temp, and stopped it goes up less than half on the temp hand which is normal. But when the car start driving along the temp hand drops lowww and it throws out shag all hot air.So i baught a thermostat at napa.Put it in my car and for some reason my fitv went nuts! idling up and down up and down.I wasn't so tame after that.Took out the new one threw my old one back in and the fast idle thermo valve was silent and she is back to her old habits.

You guys know yourself, there is a distinct difference between a d15b7 and a b18b1 thermostat.I went to napa with the b7 one to make sure he didnt give me that one.And thats what was listed for the b18b1? WTF. Theyre the same part number but the b1 thermostat looks a hella lot beefier.
