im new to boost but i know a guy that has an evo 8 and as soon as he bought it swapped the turbo and i offered $150 for the stock turbo and hes down for it, will it be a good choice for the price to turbo my d16z6. the only think im worried about is the internal wastegate can i convert to external or no? thanks

i posted in the forced induction category but nobody responded, please give me your opinion

You can mount a turbo anywhere on your exhaust so get a flange to match and your good i think the evo runs 12psi stock so this turbo is great is for a Z6.. Do some research on compressor maps to make sure its what you want and mount it somewhere on the exhaust and run charge pipes to your intake its easy to custom mount a turbo if you can weld and have a pipe bender. I did the same with a wrx turbo on my D15 and used DC headers mounted the turbo behind the motor.

it actually runs about double that psi. but of course psi doesn't really mean a whole lot unless you take into account it's size and volumetric efficiency. if you looked at the thread you would have seen that not only do manifolds/adapters not exist for this turbo to be used (so it would have to be custom), but it uses also uses a dual internal wastegate, in addition to being oil and water cooled. it would be so much easier to just use a different turbo. hell for $150 i'd rather take my chances with an ebay 57 trim t3/t04e

do you think that will be cheaper then a full desent kit by like full race or peak boost or rev hard i think so im pricing it out and it will still be several hundred less?

check out go-autoworks.com (is this legal on the forums to give a link?) i would get the GO-AUTOWORKS Turbo Kits Tuner kit that he has with the bulleye/borg warner 50 trim, .55ar turbo like i have instead of the normal 57 trim and i think you'll be satisfied. his kits are really made well. it also comes with a log manifold instead of a cast one, if you just want a cast manifold, go with the basic kit that he has. its a few hundred cheaper, but i would still get the borg warner 50 trim. it is capable of 450whp. and when it spools you know it lol. it is still plenty efficient on my z6, as it still pulls very hard at 10psi. i can't imagine a built block running 20+ psi lol it'll pull crazy hard.
