well, im looking into a website for my band.
i know absolutely nothing about this.
i know about godaddy for the domain name and what the fuck not.

but everything else is a big ball of what the fuck.

figured some of you guys would have some sort of reference or something for me.
basically, i want to buy the domain name, and until we have enough ground to pay somebody to design it, i want it to basically forward people to our myspace page. i know it can be done, see bands do it all the time.
that, and the fact that all the band members may be able to have a personal email set up through the website.

help. just please help. lol.
 
I would check out SquareSpace they have a ton of templates and provide your hosting as well. Plus you can hire a designer at a later date to custome design your site. Just check out their samples and all that.
 
If all you're planning on doing is running a myspace page, i would simply buy a name and set it up as a redirect to myspace so myband.com actually forwards to myspace.com/mybandpage.

No sense having a real website + a myspace so you have to design everything twice, update everything twice, etc etc etc.

exactly. just make a site redirect. or advertise your site as simply www.myspace.com/myband i have seen lots of local bands do it.
 
yeah, the myspace redirect was what i was thinking for the time being, but if it actually starts to gain ground and starts happening with us, then id like to already have the name secured to build a site.

how do you do a redirect exactly?
 
wix.com is pretty decent for building a site if you don't know or don't want to mess with anything complicated. The big downside is that it's all flash. The upside is that it can look decent and if you pay you can get rid of the wix logo on your page.
 
you can set up the domain as a forwarder withing godaddy control panel/etc.
