hey everyone.
i was driving my 90 CRX si with a gsr swap home from a weekend at my relatives when it started to literally piss rain. Didnt think much of it but drove through a pretty deep puddle. My engine sucked water(filter was relocated to wheel-well) and when i brought it in to get it checked out, aparantly the pistons in 1 or 2 of the cylinders broke. havent brought it anywhere to actually open it but thats what the tech at the dealership said seemed to be the only explanation since the electrical system was also not working(blew the main fuse in the process). so now im trying to figure the cheapest way to get my engine back up and running. Should there be damage to the cylinder walls and valves should i bore out to a 2.0 and try to scrounge a new head? would this be cheaper than maybe just finding a b16 in decent shape? anyways im pretty new to cars so i dont really know how to buiild an engine but im good with my hands and determined to get this thing up and running again.if anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated. if the costs are going to be too high it will have to just sit for 5 years till im done university. plans for the future were to eventually turbo it.. nothing crazy so maybe if i can kill two birds with one stone without it costing me much more that would help. It was my daily driver for the 3 weeks i had it... yes only 3 weeks(depressing much?)

P.s. yes i know i am an idiot for driving in the rain... you dont need to remind me

well stroking it will be a great option and making a 2.0 you will only gain from that. Adding a b16 head will increase your compression with out any clearance issues. however you made need to go with a shorter arm or just get a block extender. either way it will be a great running enging. You could go the cheaper way and locate a b18c2 or jdm b18 short block and just rebuild your head. do some research and try what ever option works for you. Be sure though if you are going to bore it out to find a great machine shop that you trust!!! Good luck and sorry to here about your misfortune. I am currently selling a complete gsr swap from a 95 itr. Comes with tranny shift linkage and ecu along with axles and everything you need to do the swap.

first of all a b16 head will lower your compression.

you have a gsr engine out of a 95 itr??? really a 95 ITR?? lol ok

find a b18b1 or a1 block and rebuild your head. and make it a ls vtec. but yes a b16 head will lower your comp. but noting big. maybe like.1 or.2 . but a gsr head will give you better low and mid range power but the b16 will give you better power in the higher rpm's. but try to find a ls block. they are really cheap. rebuild your head.(new valves) witch will only be like 150 200 and you'll have a nice running motor for around 600 to 700 bux. or you can just put the ZC motor in it and get the the gsr block sleeved and build it slowly for boost.

GSR and B16 heads flow the damn same.

150 to 200 for 16 new valves? Wow thats super cheap! I really hope they are OEM or better.
