i have a 99 civic si . and something want in the tranny and im thinking its a throwout bearing ,, i was driveing it and it started getting this weird sound like a rock in a can being shacked but everytime i would push in the clutch it would go away but when i left it out it would make the sound but i was driveing it and the tranny just locked up .. the car starts but the only way it moves is with the clutch in . and its like stuck in gear in the tranny but i can still move the shifer in gears but in in N it shuts off with the clutch out ,, any ideas ?

clutch? Flywheel? pull the tanny out and check the clutch pressure plate and flywheel and throw out bearing. if its non of those it might be the gears.

My guess would be that some of the teeth of a gear have come off and have wedged them self in the teeth of another gear, effectively seizing the tranny.

The throw out bearing is applied when you push the clutch pedal. So if the throw out bearing was the problem, it would make the noise when you push the clutch pedal. You said it goes away when you push the pedal, it's obviously not the throw out bearing...

It sounds like the input shaft bearing to me. The input shaft starts spinning when you release the clutch because you are engaging the clutch disc again when you release the pedal. I say/think your input shaft bearing seized.

soo i took out the tranny , and the nub of the tranny you spin it and you can just hear the bearings or something spin dont sound good at all ,, i have no idea about trannys . its a b16lsd tranny.. should i try and take it apart or take it to a shop ??

Told ya it was the input shaft bearing lol...

If you have no idea when it comes to tranny's, take it to a reputable tranny shop... Although, with a little searching online, you can find how to replace it yourself. It's not that hard.

how do you know its that for shure tho ? isent their alot of bearings in their . and do you have anysite or anything i can get the info off of im pretty smart when it comes to motors so im shure i could do the tranny i just dont wanna mess it up

i took it to a shop your good it was that , the one was bad and the outher was going bad , thank god i didnt do it

Sorry I didn't reply sooner...

Yeah I just simply narrowed it down based on your symptoms. Pretty much like you would do with any other problem lol. Once you understand how something works, the rest is a breeze. You'll soon figure out trannies as well :)
