So im going back to Verizon. i orignally planned to wait for the release of the Droid X on July 15th and read reviews a few days after the release to make sure it's legit. But i have been doing some reading and next years line of Smartphones are going to get Dual Core processors so I was thinking of holding out until the releases of these new line of phones.

I use the Iphone everyday even during work , watching movies, youtube videos, games, online banking, basic internet looks ups etc....

Anyone else been reading about the dual core smartphones...is it to much?

my buddy works for Motorola.. he said he'll be working w/ the Verizon team next year on a phone that has a 12mp camera and a lot of other shit

This is the problem I see wirh Android is the perception of fragmentation. I am on Sprint and am looking pretty hard at the Evo 4g but I get the feeling that if I jump on it HTC is going to release a better handset that runs the newest version of Android and I won't be able to run the newest version on the 4g. Look at the Nexus One, how long was it top dog? 4 months?

just look and see what is out there that has the features and specs that you want or need... make your decision and jump on one

be careful about looking to see if something is coming out soon that fits your wants and needs better... because constantly looking down the road for what might be better will leave you always waiting for the next best thing and never making a move on anything

android devices evolve very quickly... new devices are coming out every few weeks... you cant get caught up in needing to have the top dog device, or you will never be able to make a move because no matter what device you are looking at, something better IS always coming soon

what really sucks about android is that one OS doesnt cater to the what 20-30 android capable phones out there on the market RIGHT NOW?

and unless you get the latest and greatest, within a few months you will get left behind in the flurry of new apps and shit. there is just no stability or longevity there. who the hell can afford the bi-annual upgrade fees? not me man.

Um, either way you'll be behind, right? lol. I mean, say if you pick the iPhone4 or the Evo/Incredible/X, maybe a year or two down the line the next phones are going to smoke either ones.

Everyone knows Apple releases every 12 months. That is a given, if you suckle at the breast of Jobs you know your dropping 400 or whatever bucks every year. You can budget for that though. Like I said about the Nexus One, it was the cats meow for two months.

Like E said though, if it suits your needs now hop on it now.

Anyone get the Droid X---- thoughts? Had 4 dropped calls yesterday talking to my RealEstate agent, im fed up with ATT

I don't have any experience with the X, but I have the LG ally, and my friend has the android both have the android OS. I personally love it. it's a great system, you can do pretty much anything with it. The one thing I have to complain about is the GPS, if you're in a big city (I was in paterson NJ) it'll drop the signal a lot but in suburbs and small to large towns it works like a dream. but thats really the only complaint I have.

hope that helps at all

Droid to me is slightly too big just like the EVO. Also the droid X is locked down pretty good meaning it might be hard to do the normal Android style stuff without too much fuss, and unlocking it aka rooting it seems to be an issue.

I'm pretty sure that the Droid X was rooted a few days ago. And the side load wonder machine or whatever it's called works with the X too I am pretty sure

i got my droid x on launch day. my bb storm's screen cracked and i went in to verizon the morning it came out and, what do ya know, im due for an upgrade. so far, the phone is the best one ive had to date. my smartphone history is motorola Q, samsung sch-i760, bb storm and my droid x is by far the best phone ive had out of those. they are all fun to mess around with and make it do things that it wasnt built for but hacking smartphones makes for an unstable machine. this is why i havent rooted my x yet but once i get bored with it, im sure i will head down that road.

i thought there was a JB for 3gs OS4 already?

There are a few different ones out but Spirit has yet to be released last I heard. I think red cloud or whatever is out.

I would just get the X if you like it. The X will be able to upgrade to gingerbread when it comes out for sure, who knows after that. As long as you get one of the actual "droid" phones you'll be fine on upgrades for awhile. The original Moto droid will get 2.2 (Froyo) and the flash update where something like the LG Ally or moto devour won't.. because even though they run the android OS they are slower phones (dif ver of same chip sets) and won't get the new stuff.
