I dunno if I posted it here or not, but I had a little accident in my car that did a hell of a number on the front end. So, I decided to upgrade, especially since stock replacement parts are apparently made of pure gold. Thats the end of the good news. Long story short, got all my new stuff, none of it fit right. Got it togather and havent been able to get my alignment dialed in, which is brutal on me since Im a perfectionist in the worst way. Been limpin it around, it developed a noise in the front end so I took it all apart today. Fuckin ball joints toast. Less than 6 months old, and I greased it when I put the A-arms in. Im still waiting to get a hold of the company to see what they say. But, of 3 parts only 1 fit decent so Im hopin they throw me a bone on this.

Its for a '98 Z28, thats why I put this in the lounge lol. Kinda irrelevant to most of the others here.
 
a long time ago i was told: "working on a car is a delicate art of beating the shit out of it with a hammer"

this has proven true in most cases... especially with anything "aftermarket" or "bolt-on"... which are apparently just fancy ways of saying "if you fuck with it enough you can make it work"
 
Lol, this I know. The whole proccess of making it fit involved a hammer, a grinder and me lying on my back under the car kicking it into place.

Did you try to align it yourself? Take it someplace where they can give you an exact alignment with a computer. Doing this will save you big $$$ on tire wear....
 
the old motto you get what you pay for is never more relevant as it is in car parts
if you ever wonder why they offer you 3 prices when you call for a part, now you know why
if its your car, shoot for midgrade or above
if its just a jobber, use your own judgement, lol

I did at first then had it checked. It was within spec, but to feel right I should have been on the other end of tolerance for the caster. Everything else was fine.

I know they dont fit right outa the box. Im more mad that even after all that hassle (way more trouble than anyone else I know that installed the exact same parts), the ball joint went out in less than 2,000 miles.

Well, Id like to think payin a grand for 2 A-arms and a K-member would get me a good products.

I forgot to answer you other question. I did not turn it into insurance, because they would have totaled the car. Its a situtaion where all kinds of little shit broke, but no damage was done to the body or structure of the car.

good luck man. i doubt the companies going to stand behind that ball joint.
and, you cant really blame the quality of the product, i mean, you are stating that a lot of other small crap got broke in your accident. so, why shouldnt the ball joint?

and you didnt specify whether this ball joint was replaced as a result of the accident a few months ago or was on there before that accident. so, im left assuming that it was on there before.

Every assumption you made in this post is wrong. Just so you know.

I suppose I was at fault if you call a public roadway deffect my fault.

I couldnt give less of a shit about the premium. Its a matter of lettin the car go, and bein out all the money I put into it. Even if I was to buy it back and part it out, Id still only break even for the buy back, then be at square one again. If I bought it back to pull the parts and put on another car, then I wouldnt have the money to buy a car to put the parts on. Square one.

Brand new ball joint. Came in the A-arms, installed by the company. Installed on the car in March, bad by July. I couldnt figure out WTF the noise was until now though. I can blame the quality of a ball joint that doesnt last 2,000 miles after being installed by a "professional".

instead of getting defensive, you could have included the information in the original post if you didnt wish for those assumptions to be made.

if it was a defect in the road, you should have notified your county or city, they are liable for damage caused to your vehicle by potholes or other defects in the road.
 
Lol, not gettin deffensive. I was just listin the facts that I originally left out.

I got the form and everything to turn into the city plus pictures of the deffect. So thats all gettin taken of.
