Don't most departments using laser these days?
So whats the deal with laser? The detectors cant pick it up until its too late, or they cant at all?
thats what ive always hated about the whole system. the cop has no "proof" to show he captured you on radar. the machine doesnt print out a receipt or anything. the cop could sit there, point his fucking night stick at your car, pull you over, issue you a ticket for YY in an XX zone, and you have to take it cause he SAYS he clocked you. theres nothing the cop has to do that proves you were the one captured on radar or that he even shot radar/lidar/etc, just his word. total BS.depends... its similar to the instant on radar that was popular a few years back... the cop waits for someone to be in sight and then hits them with the beam... if you are the one hit, your detector isnt going to go off until its too late... if its not you that gets hit, your detector can pick up some of the scatter and alert you... so if you are on a road with other traffic you might still get a warning.... if its just you speeding along all by yourself, youre fucked
and as for the usage of laser... around here i see some local cops using laser (usually at a big speed trap, with several cops lined up issuing tickets)... still see more using the car mounted radar though
the fucked up thing that cops like to do around here is, even if the cop didnt get you on laser... they may have gotten you on radar or they might just be guessing based off of their "expert ability to estimate speed by sight" (lmao) they still like to put " LASER " on the ticket... because they know that if they say they got you on laser, you arent going to be able to beat the ticket in court... and the town gets $$$ from the tickets they issue... and they get more $$$$ from speeding tickets (welcome to Operation Increase Revenue)
Good findI've been doing some shopping after getting caught in a poorly marked construction zone (I was doing 3mph over the regular speed limit). I found this site Radar Detectors and Jammers - Reviews & Shopping at Radar Busters tons of great info on there.
