I don't drive like a dick, but I enjoy knowing when some douche cop is driving around with his Ka band on. lol

Escort Passport 7500 here. Had it for 7 years with no problems, except the suction cups keep failing.

I enjoy when I'm getting warned of K/Ka band and it's another few minutes or a mile later I finally spot the cop with it on.

well i havent got a ticket in years but last night i got one and im just tired of the petty tickets, yes i was speeding but damn, i would be embarrassed to tell my fellow officers that i gave someone a ticket for going ( drum roll please ) 43mph in a 35/25 lol but the law is the law

There's quite a few units that are good; I wouldn't say the V1 is the clear-cut top unit anymore.

But yes, they still work.

edit: this site looks like it has a lot of reviews for units based on price range: http://radartest.com/

V1

and if you want to be super defensive, you can get lidatek.

Don't most departments using laser these days?

Based off the people I know, and having family members that are LEO's, laser is the primary source of detection.

I've also talked to several of the departments in my area, and some have even said that they have improved and developed new detection methods that are still being tested in certain markets. Rumor has it California has been experimenting with it.

Lots of departments are using aircraft, too. Can't outrun them...

Nope but that is something the RPG-7 in my trunk can handle for me.

The only times I've ever run into laser is State Police using them in a remote area on the interstate, and near most airports. I've yet to see a city cop using a laser unit.

So whats the deal with laser? The detectors cant pick it up until its too late, or they cant at all?

depends... its similar to the instant on radar that was popular a few years back... the cop waits for someone to be in sight and then hits them with the beam... if you are the one hit, your detector isnt going to go off until its too late... if its not you that gets hit, your detector can pick up some of the scatter and alert you... so if you are on a road with other traffic you might still get a warning.... if its just you speeding along all by yourself, youre fucked

and as for the usage of laser... around here i see some local cops using laser (usually at a big speed trap, with several cops lined up issuing tickets)... still see more using the car mounted radar though

the fucked up thing that cops like to do around here is, even if the cop didnt get you on laser... they may have gotten you on radar or they might just be guessing based off of their "expert ability to estimate speed by sight" (lmao) they still like to put " LASER " on the ticket... because they know that if they say they got you on laser, you arent going to be able to beat the ticket in court... and the town gets $$$ from the tickets they issue... and they get more $$$$ from speeding tickets (welcome to Operation Increase Revenue)

They are illegal here in Virginia but I've heard nothing but great things about the V1.

look go with beltronics. its either 955 or 965 one of those numbers. beltronics is the same company that provides most police department with their radars and lasers. they make money off us and them.

every year they make something better for cops and make something even better for us speeders but the bs thing is to get the model thats better than what they got you will pay good money for it. they even have the jammer attachment on build into some but far as i kno if u get catch witha jammer ur fucked

thats what ive always hated about the whole system. the cop has no "proof" to show he captured you on radar. the machine doesnt print out a receipt or anything. the cop could sit there, point his fucking night stick at your car, pull you over, issue you a ticket for YY in an XX zone, and you have to take it cause he SAYS he clocked you. theres nothing the cop has to do that proves you were the one captured on radar or that he even shot radar/lidar/etc, just his word. total BS.

and you can never "fight the system" in court (unless the cop doesnt show). i was in court a few years back and one of the guys who went before me tried to say he was an "electronics expert" for x amount of years and that nothing can be calibrated perfectly, judge basically told him to STFU and pay. the guy did sound like he was talking out his ass about being an "expert" but the judge wouldnt have cared if he had empirical evidence.

I've been doing some shopping after getting caught in a poorly marked construction zone (I was doing 3mph over the regular speed limit). I found this site Radar Detectors and Jammers - Reviews & Shopping at Radar Busters tons of great info on there.
Good find
I should buy the $399.00 one..

And for the people that live or traveling through Chicago.. Chicago does use Laser only.. Not all cars have the unit in the car, So if you get pulled over ask to see the speed..
