I was thinking about getting the tein basics. I was also looking at the progress suspension. The cheaper $600ish set doesn't look like it could handle the street at all as far as the abuse and I don't want to spend near $1500. This is going on a mainly track car but will be drivin on street. I don't care so much about ride as long as it won't break my back and can still stick to the road on bumpier back roads. I liked how my friends gsr on ksports cornered with soft setting on dampers over a little unevennness :x. Of course a front camber kit will be on order as well.

I've heard a lot of "horror" stories about Ksport/D2, but of course heard just as much praise. Other options are the PIC Apex which may be a little more, Koni/GC setup(or Koni with any springs for that matter), Skunk2 Pro-S, etc.

The Progress Auto setup may look cheap but they are a big name as far as GRM/AutoX/RR guys are concerned(IIRC they are one of, if only, people who make spherical bushings for 88-91s).

Oh I know progress is awesome and that's why I mentioned the ksports ride and not to purchase. He hasn't had a problem with his yet but I hear they develope leaks easy. You wouldn't believe what a nice set of tires and a just a progress rear sway did for my 92 EX Accord. I could almost oversteer in the dry. But the "begginer" (don't want to look it up I'm on my phone) set up doesn't look like it could handle a few thousand miles of actual road. And I jsut don't want to spend 1500 on the coilovers alone either. I'll take a look at your suggestions tomorrow. I want to move on something by the end of the week. Cars going to the shop to fix some mistakes I made and I want this on before it gets aligned. My dealership is slammed in service right now.

Like I said, my friends are still going strong as well. He has had them on for two years now. I really just don't want to chance it. The Tein basics, the lower PIC, Kports, and the skunk2 pro-c are all priced within $100 (MSRP of course). They are all 8kg in the front 6kg in the rear.. kinda lame. The $600 progress is either 6.2kg in the front and rear or 6.2kg in the front and 8kg in the rear. That is more appealing, but now that I'm buying a CD6 for the winter here in a week or so.. I might just say fuck it and order those $1200 PIC with 10kg in the front 14kg in the rear even though I know that is going to be retarded on any PA roads, especially with no cage. So either $600 progress with 6f/8r (thing that sucks is that these have only one adjustable point for height only on the bottom and use stock tops), or $1200 PIC... I'm gonna look around some more still.

Those are some "heavy" spring rates for street. Simply stiffer rear for lower spring rates does not always mean it'll rotate like an overall-stiffer RR/AutoX setup would. IIRC most of the fast FWD cars in those Best Motoring touge races had stiffer fronts than rears; though the touge cars have to deal with bumps and pretty much typical street road surfaces. If you're just worried about whether a stiff setup would survive the streets that's a completely different issue then.

Also, I don't know if you ever tried driving with stiff rears in a light hatch(or light-rear), but hitting large bumps is annoying! I forgot what springs and shocks I had(all I remember was they were stiff), but when I went over a bridge on the highway that had an uneven transition, I could feel the rear end pop up in the air....definitely not safe!
