This happened locally. He's a National Guard member, and they didn't let him in until they determined the guns were not loaded and he had no ammunition on his person. Apparently there was some sort of a color guard ceremony before the game and they were under the assumption he was part of it as he was uniformed. When it was determined he wasn't part of the ceremony he was asked to leave the stadium and was cooperative.

He basically wanted to see the game and couldn't get tickets.

so 1 gun wasn't enough to get in? oh yeah, color guard doesnt' carry fucking m-16's either. oh, and shouldn't they have a LIST and check id's for people that come in?

just because he is in the guard doesn't mean he wouldnt' go fucking apeshit and shoot everyone. he could have stashed 10 clips in a toilet 6 months ago. 113,000 people would be pretty easy to kill 100-200 people in about 2 minutes if you know how to shoot.

Your right. Even the most highly trained individual could snap and fry everyone. Lets repeal the 2nd amendment. Nobody should have access to firearms. They are dangerous and can kill people.

but 2 m-16's in a stadium? i mean come on. they aren't the show guard guns. you can't spin an m-16. he wasn't on security detail. i have my fair share of guns. and i would love to own a legal m-16 except the $15,000 price tag is a little steep.

just some common sense from the security would have been nice. it's like allowing a fireworks guy to walk in with blocks of C-4.

In my opinion- whoever was running the security was a dumbass. I do not agree with gun control and I do carry a concealed weapon everywhere I go- but certain precautions are supposed to be taken at events like that. Did they not think it was weird that ONE soldier had weapons? Why did the man have 2? He didn't need 2... I wouldn't think that the National Guard would have walked in a public access door with weapons either- not for a ceremony. Everything was out of place- someone was just not doing their job or didn't have common sense.
And I do agree with the previous comments that just because they are military doesn't mean everything is perfectly safe. My husband is military and I will evern say that. Remember the whack-job that killed all those people at Fort Hood recently? He was a "trained" "sane" soldier. Some people have alterior motives, and some snap. Soldier or not.

the Army's Color Guard carries the M16, M-1 Garand, M-14 or the M1903 Springfield rifle.

a military Color Guard does not automatically mean "Drill Team" and does not imply that the rifles will be spun and twirled around
it is simply an armed escort for the colors

here is a link to bunch of pics from the Army's website... you can see examples of all of the rifles listed above being used

the M16 is more of a drill rifle then you think.

either you guys are overthinking this or i'm underthinking it.

i have this mental image of a guy walking up in full dress and 2 m-16's over his shoulder saying, "hey, i'm here for the color guard"

and the dumbass like, "oh ok. go right in".

with that being said, it comes with intelligence and responsibility. you can't carry a gun into a bar, on school campuses, courtrooms, etc even with a concealed carry permit. everybody should have the right to own a gun, but we should draw the line at taking 2 fully automatic, military rifles, to a college sporting event. come on now.

What if the college sporting event is hunting related?

What if everyone watching the game that day turned into zombies.

Who'd have the last laugh then?
