I tried searching for this and couldn't get what I needed so forgive me if you know of a separate thread. Soon I'm going to be looking for new front fenders for my EG and since my car is red I'm going to want them to match. So does anybody have a ball park price I should expect? Or maybe if it matters if they're on or off the car. I'm on the Jersey shore so I understand prices may vary by area. Thanks

Oh and I thought about doing it myself but I've never sprayed cars or car parts and none of my friends have any of the stuff I'd need.

i would expect $200-$300. depends on where you take it though. if you pay cash and under the table, they might spray it for $150. A good shop will charge as much as $500.

Depending on how good you want your car to look, you may want to wait and just get the whole car painted. I've had 3 cars painted at maaco for around $700 each and they came out amazing. but then again, i inspected the shit out of it and wouldn't take the car until i was happy. they guarantee 100% satisfaction there.

Yeah that's pretty steep so I probably would just wait to have the whole car painted. It could use a fresh coat of paint anyway.

that is probably what a shop would suggest too. matching fenders and hoods to the rest of the car is difficult and not profitable. most shops don't like to do that unless it's an insurance gig. so you can go hit a pole or a parked car if you want. ^_^

I'd also imagine it obviously looking like I got new fenders anyway because of how much nicer looking the red would be as opposed to the faded red on the car.

I agree with 95b16coupe here. There's no way the paint is going to match, so even if you do get someone to do it, you won't be happy with the results once you get them on the car. The difference will be night and day.
Maaco isn't a bad choice *depending on that particular one*. Some Maaco's are REALLY good, some mediocre, and some are REALLY bad. My local one is good- enough that I took my Speed3 there and got it fixed and trust the work, and also it looks fantastic. I do have the advantage since I worked there for 5 years... ;)2

Do your research- always- before letting anyone work on your vehicle. And like 95b16coupe said, don't leave the premises with the car after it's painted until you have thouroughly inspected it and are satisfied with the work. :)

Totally, I'm gonna shop around. There's actually this dude near me who has his own paint shop out of his garage and he's well known for doing really good work out of there. I might stop and talk to him when I get some cash.

Another pointer- always ask if they warranty their work. Whether it's a shop or an individual. I have a friend that got his RSX painted at a guy's "shop" in early June, and it's already peeling on the front lip. The guy didn't prep it right- no bulldog, no primer, just a scuff and spray. He won't warranty it. That's a shabby deal for a $1500 paint job IMO.

$700 for a full paint  thats cheap unless your talkin no body work and no prime and block. around here it would run you $3000-$4000 if you want it primed and sanded, $1500-$2000 for a straight sand, paint & clear. especially since a gallon of paint can run upwards of $600. given you probly wont need a gallon but that shits gotten pricey :(

It sure has got expensive! It's got to where you just about can't even paint it yourself for cheap. :(

The guy's shop I mentioned has been around since I was 6 when I met him, he actually used to date my mom's boyfriend's daughter. His shop has been there since and I've never heard any complaints and I hear he's pretty modestly priced. I'm gonna check him out when I get some cash and see what's up. Thanks for the help guys.
