QUESTION IS NO LONGER NEEDED.:)

About to get into the technical part of building so please move or delete.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I wanted to do a K20 swap on the CRX.

I have the opportunity to buy a B18C virgin Type R swap without tranny for $1500.

Includes.
Wiring harness
intake manifold
rail and injectors
all belts and pulleys

Motor layed down 195WHP bone stock. Still is.

Yes or no? That is all.

My plans would then switch to buying a LSD tranny and drive it until I get bored and crave more power. (turbo vs allmotor but that's another story)

my cost would be dramatically reduced and build time cut in half.

it boils down to me being afraid of pulling the trigger. I need some outside advice.

it's either blown or stolen.

do a compression check, run the VIN, take a copy of his id.

well it started at 2300 for the full swap.

then it went down after it got parted. It's sitting at our Honda store since he's an employee.
He's got vouches on it and he wants to fund his K swap.

i looked at the exhaust valves and they seems to be smoked (duh( with what I thought was oil residue on the bottom half. I didn't remove the valve cover the see the cams yet but I will.

if its too good to be true it probably is
seems like a smoking deal on a type r motor

if it a killer deal then I feel good. As long as it runs and drives then I can alays sell it to make a profit.

He was selling it for 1800 and told me he ws goinf to reduce it to 1700 for the last time.
I then jumped in and asked him if he'll take 1500 if I get it today.

if he's legit, then i say go for. but expect to need to rebuild something. if everything is ok, it should be at least $3000 for the swap.

imho, something's not right.

he's been sitting on it for a while.
I'm a firm believer in too good to be true as well. But I don't like to miss out on deals either. :)

I planned to open it up and do a port and polish as well as some cams. head gasket, arp head studs and replace seals while I get the Crx painted.

ok. I feel much better now.

thanks guys. I'll let you know once I pick it up.
may take some pics as well.

just called my friend at our Acura store (2 miles from the Honda store) and i'm gonna get him to freshen it up at his garage.

new HG
gaskets
Arp bolts and head studs

working on getting another port and polish job done by another old friend.

I'd plan on swapping in new rings while you're at it. The rings on the type r motors wear faster than most due to the high piston speeds at redline, and the way people tend to treat those motors. The swap in my car has well under 75k on it and it's out of the car right now for rings.

Nice grab man.

That's one of my dream all motor cars. b18c5 in a crx. Light car. All motor. So much fun.

Only thing I'd be worried about is that 195WHP with a bone stock Type R motor. Did honda really screw up and put out lots more power then it was meant to in that one motor?

Well, there have been many instances where they have been putting down more hp as they break in.

This was also seen with cars like the neon srt-4 and the honda s2000 and it changes from dyno to dyno.

195hp at the crank motor putting down 195WHP.... aint gonna happen.

Yes, it changes from dyno to dyno, depending on who sets it up as with what style dyno, main difference is the setup #s. My Z could put down 600WHP easily if I enter info wrong.

which brings me to the good news of the night.
I just closed the deal.

the motor was tuned with a skunk 2 intake manifold and a RMS race header.
I just closed the deal for the motor with header and stock ITR mani for 1800 bucks.
before I give him the dough I have to double check the cams and make sure it's the real deal header.

wow those are some wild looking headers. I bet they work good, but they look like they would take up a lot of room under the hood.

half sized radiator. Lol

got to go. Mrs Taco is calling me ;)
