So figured there might be a few of you in the IT area or might have seen a nice conference room with a Large Format LCD or TV to display general crap like Spreadsheets, video conferencing etc... and then also to be able to have an Engineering Review of a design w/ Solidworks

I'm not certain a TC screen or a Monitor is a better choice. Any ideas or input would be great.

well that all depends on your input. if you are running DSUB VGA, may as well kill yourself.

alot of new machines have been coming with HDMI, in our conference rooms we have plasmas and HDMI ports... we leave those without to use the light projectors :)

Wow. In our conference room - we have...
A dry erase board. FAIL. :bangdesk:

Well we we built the building 2 years ago we ran a DVI cable in the wall, The video cards I'm looking at have eitther DVI or displayport. I have a DVI-HDMI adapter sitting on my desk in case I need to use it.

So you think a Plasma with 1920x1080 would be sufficient ??

I haven't seen a dry erase board in a conference room since 2003. Seriously. Get a GIANT fucking Plasma/LCD tv with some HDMI inputs. You can hook those up to computers nowadays. It's 2010. I'm typing this from my desktop while using my 42" plasma as my monitor at this very moment.

Once again, it's 2010. Buy a TV for it. You can actually hook tv service up to it and use it that way as well during off times or office parties.

For computer use, I'd go with LCD over plasma... but definitely either one of the flats over a CRT.

We use dual projectors to the front of the room with a camera in the center. :D

we had a 42" plasma at the old office. nothing special. a vizio base model cheapo from costco/etc.

if your xference room has windows, a plasma probably isn't the correct choice.

frankly, all you really need is 1260x whatever it is in widescreen mode.

No need to go super ressolution, as the more res = harder to see from distance on the screen.

We just kept a tower in the corner and had a wireless keyboard and mouse on the conference table to pass around if necessary on one of those lap things (pillow bottom, hard top)

we have 52" Samsung lcds in our conference rooms, driven by Dell vostro pc's.
