Who out there is not running a PCV on their LS Vtec or B20 Vtec?? I have been told you done need and that you do need it, both by reputable tuners. So I dont know what to do. If you dont run a PCV give some info on your set up and how long you have been running it?
Also if you are not using a GSR water and oil pump let me know. I know it is recommended but jsut wat to get info from people that have not. Thanks

Ok in my research I have found that the 99 Integra Ls B18b1 oil pump part number is 15100-P72-A01 and the 99 GSR oil pump part number is 15100-P72-A10 ans the 00-01 Tpye R oil pump is 15100-P72-A01. Do you see what I see?? Yep they Ls, GSR and Type R oil pumps are the same! That settles it for me on the oil pump.

That part number you got for the oil pump is the superceeded part number. It's Hondas way of having to make/stock only 1 type of pump to fit various engines instead of making/stocking different oil pumps for each variation of the B-Series engine (except the old school b20 and b21 engines, IIRC) I'm just letting you know so you don't, for example, go trying to use a good condition, original 94 B18B oil pump instead of an original 00 GSR oil pump because you think they are the same.

As far as water pumps go, you need to use the GSR/ITR water pump because the B18A/B water pump gears have a higher tooth count so in higher rpm's they spin faster and can cause cavitation.

ok i got the tooth count back wards, my bad i new there was a difference in tooth count

B16RacerN2NR that install method requires drilling the block. I do not want to do this. I have been seeing a mod for PCV using the Prelude oil cooler fitting. Has anyone done this?? How has it worked for you??

Oh it does? My bad, I thought the end of that article had the directions for not tapping the block... I'll try to find something...

No the part numbers are all right. 90-95 B18s have a PR4 oil pump and 96-01 b18s and b20s all have a P72 oil pump from the factory. Had a few friends with old b18bs check oil pumps numbers and sure enough P72 oil pumps.

I have been told a Type R oil pump is best. Can't verify....Frankensteins scare me! Uggg.....Frankenstein get mad and spin bearing....Uggg!

98+ b18a b18c same oil pump, you still need a gsr water pump and gsr t belt.

I Did that on my High comp ls build, never heats up, never has any oil pressure problems. This engine sees 8k 1st to 3rd every day at least twice a day when I enter the freeway and when I travel it sees 4k to 5k rpm for a hour or two with no problems.

the key is getting your clearances on the rods and mains in oem spec. a well built engine with a good tune will reward you with power and reliability.

oh and I bypassed my pcv valve, there is a plug on the back of the block above the breather box, Pull the breather box off, plug it, and replace the plug above the box with the Prelude fitting that just threads in and run a hose from there to vent wereever you want it to.

Like i said before and Magana said you will need the gsr water pump and gsr timing belt, as ls/vtec's have problems over heating. And yes just use a newer oil pump doesn't matter which one just make sure its 96+

wrong, poorly built LSV's have a overheating problem. The reason you want a GSR/ITR water pump and oil pump is because of the cavitation the LS water pump produces on the high rpm, when that happens you stop moving water and thats when you heat up. The oil pump is to move enough oil at the high rpm and keep oil pressure high at high rpm.

My motor is a 99 B18b1 it came with a P72 oil pump and only has around 70k on it. I am no longer concerned about the oil pump My motor came with the one I need from the factory. I will be using GSR water pump though it will be right easy to get to when doing the head and it is cheap.
Magana559 you hit the nail on the head with the Ls water pump. It stops moving water and cavitates under high RPMs. This only becomes a problem under hard driving like AutoX or any racing for that matter. However for a DD LS Vtec that will not see more that 8k RPMs then the LS water pump will be fine. But like I said a water pump is cheap insurance and I do race my Civic at the track on weekends.
Go my first box of parts today, my GSR head bolts showed up : Did not get the last bit of porting done, was busy at the shop today.

That is my plan and seems to be the easiest way to do it. My motor does not have a breather box. 96+ non Vtec use a pvc in the valve cover.

I am doing an LS/Vtec right now and I have to back up intense on this one thing. I have found that the B18B1, B18C1 and B18C5 all use a P72 oil pump. The LS/Vtec is new to me so I researched the crap out of it online and made like 100 calls to my local Honda tuners and dealerships to cross check part numbers.
