Looking to buy something new, tired of driving junk.
Must be able to fit 3 people.
Must be 4wd, with at least some ground clearance.
Probably will be automatic for commuting.
Gas mileage is of consideration because of daily driver duty/commuting.
Must be able to have a hitch for small trailer with snowblower or lawn tractor.
Low interest rates for well qualified buyers is a nice bonus.
Probably looking in the 25k range as that appears to be where my options exist.

Drove CRV and Element.
Good - Nice cars, hondas, hitch-able, decent mileage, low interest rates .9 CRV and 1.9 element
Bad - Bullshit on demand AWD system, very big (would love to buy a new 2 door tracker or samauri, even a 2 door tahoe if they still made them)
I like constant 4wd because I tend to drive in some very adverse conditions in NY winters, must go to work during tax season, also have 2 people to transport with me, thus 3 seats.

Considering tacoma excab, rav4, wrangler
tacoma, truck, real 4wd, runs forever, fits 3 people decently comfortable, ok mileage
have not come across any low interest rate offers
even during the toyotathon sale, no reason to offer good rates on a best seller

rav4 - bullshit on demand AWD

wrangler - no experience with them, seem to hold value well, decent to shitty mileage, i think they have real 4wd

I'd go for a toyota tacoma 4wd or tundra 4wd Slightly used.

Maybe an older 4runner 4wd as well.

They don't get the best mileage but they're awesome in the snow, have hill assist, and can go anywhere. At that, they also run forever, and will hold their resale value, while the others will probably not as well.

Down the road when its paid for and it has tons of miles, you will actually have a lot of equity in the vehicle considering the utility you've gotten out of it.

tundra's suck gas like lindsay with a pile of dicks
and not really looking for something used.
doesn't seem worth it to buy a few years old at this point, for the few grand you save you get 30k-40k of wear and tear and who knows what kind of abuse

now that you mention it
it seems tacoma's (that sell in the 25k range new) still have about double the value of crv, etc, and the taco's have more miles on them
but that has a lot to do with the recall buying all the used ones off the market so now everyone can ask top dollar
8k for a 96 tacoma with 175k, are you kidding me? lol

also jeep 4WD is more like 2wd. a stock jeep turns opposite wheels... like FL RR or FR RL

I contemplated buying a 2002 tacoma for work back in 2006 when I bought my scion.

The rig had like 80k on it, 4wd, sr5, and extended cab. Bone stock. It was clean, not mint, but clean. They wanted 22,000 4 years old with 20k a year on the clock.

Now adays, I can find a taco like that one, with 160k for, guess it? 15k. Yeah. They don't lose their value much. And if I had made that purchase, it'd be paid for and I'd have tons of equity left in my truck after the last 4 years of utility I've received from it.

The taco with the v6 gets at best 17mpg high with 33" tires, with stockers, maybe 18ish highway. The tundra gets roughly 15-16mpg. My coworkers have both.

You need this,

And you need one of these:

And y'all officially been pimpt.

plus, the ridgelines drive like a honda accord. anybody can drive since they are autos.

titan only gets 12/17 mpg
ridgeline gets 15/20 mpg

tacoma is 18/21
crv is 21/27

rav4 21/27
element 19/24

could prob up tacoma's mpg with manual hubs (not sure if they offer that or not anymore)
titan and ridgeline are above my desired price range, and i dont need to be able to tow 6000lbs
i'm getting a new vehicle so i dont have to worry about having a big towing capacity lol

wranglers are also lousy on gas. I think they make a better toy than a dd.

I still love my 07 outback... but for towing I think it can only do 2500lbs. I managed to get a steady 28mpg with it, but the the kayak and kayak rack sucked it down to 22mpg. The new 2011 outback's, I'm hearing they can get 34mpg with a light footed driver.

The Ridgeline is a really nice truck. Rides smooth and quiet for DD use, has a big, useable back seat, and a wide (albeit not long) bed. I use them all the time from work, and get 17 in the city and 20 on highway trips. Not the best. Another downside is that it hasn't seen a redesign since it came out in 05'. A 11' model doesn't feel as modern as a 2011 should. The 4wd system in those is great. Our team just won the Baja 1000 for the 2nd year in a row. Stock chassis/engined ridgeline beat other highly modified trucks. It really shows off the durability of the thing.

Get a Nissan Frontier like mine. It's only rated at 15/19, but I've been getting 18/22-24. Good ride, awesome engine, true 4wd.

Jeep Wranlgers are complete pieces of shit. Don't get one, they suck to drive in, they are loud on teh highway and the gas sucks and they lack major power. I'd vote toyota tacoma if your getting a truck, or if your looking for a 25k awd car----2007ish Audi A6 awd, loaded with options, can add a hitch, gas is in line with what your looking for, plenty of space

spot on Jockie.

Outback's CVT tranny is awesome.
For your needs I would do the 2011 Forester premium or SE model.

2011's now have he DOHC with active valve control. Also very similar MPG's than the Outback in city driving.

realistically how much per month are you looking to spend?

Right now we offer 1.9% up to 36 months. I've seen 2.9 for 60 and 3.9 for 72 months. (simple interest loans)

also, on all subaru certified pre owned vehicles you can get as low as 2.9% up to 63 months.

When it comes to comfort, space and AWD the Rav4 and Honda CRV just don't stand a chance.
especially the Rav4. :yuck:

true AWD
better ratings
high resale value
high safety ratings
power delivered at lower RPM's to all for wheels.

hit me up if you're interested. the new Premium Forester's are bad ass and much better than the 2010.
Sucks you're too far away. I would love to show you and hook you up with one.

A subaru would fit your bill to a tee.
I have an 03 Forester. 5spd. the AWD is amazing is is a lot of fun to have as well as a more solid feel to driving the car.
in mine, i get a consistent 30mpg. and thats full time AWD.
If it were an automatic, it would be better for towing, but i would tow without hesitation.
I love my subaru. have had it for a year now, and i have no plans of getting rid of it, which is really saying something, bc i usually get tired of a car and have it gone after 6months.
when im done with this one and want nicer, i'll be upgrading to a new subaru. will probably just get another forester, newer xt would be awesome.
