CR-Z Type R

Not a repost at all. That was a one off car, this is about Honda's plan to make a gas only CR-Z with a possible Type R version.

i wonder if we will get shafted on this one too. seems like we always get the short end of the stick on these things. or they will make a special version that cost about 5x as much as it should and call it the mugen version or some shit.

IIRC the original CRX started with economy only versions, the Si didn't come til years later.

true, but the si wasn't such a significant step up.

however, i do remember hearing from someone not to be named that other models may be in the works. stupid confidentiality agreements.

200hp 1.6 liter with honda reliability. that sounds like a winner to me. as some have said, this is how the car should have come in the first place IMO

this is how ALL hondas should be. high power/displacement ratio with good reliability. it's really not that hard to do.

Start writing letters to American Honda. They there are the ones who think Americans don't want anything to do with "Type R", want bigger and heavier cars, think rwd is stupid, and desire jack-o-lantern front ends on luxury vehicles.

yeah, my letters will really hold weight. lol

why don't YOU just tell them?!?! i understand why they do it though. they think us fat ass americans only care about big muscle power and big asses. i let them know with my buying power. they dont' make shit i want anymore, so i don't buy it. neither does nissan.

honda and nissan piqued their niche markets with me with the S15 silvia and the ITR. since those are gone and/or not in the u.s. i haven't bought a honda in years.

"Engineers don't know squat about selling cars" They don't listen to us.

The Honda of yore was a car company run by car guys (the engineers). This is the company that gave you vtec, 100hp/liter N/A for under $20k, and put double wishbones on the front end of an econobox. These days, the engineers design what non-car guys think Americans want. The person in charge of this came from Proctor and Gamble lmao. Granted, Honda stock is doing really well, and the company made money all through the financial crisis.

As the honda re-sale market drops (ie, used cars), the value will hold less, and slowly but surely, the idea of buying a honda cuz it doesn't lose a lot of retail will be gone. There's no secondary market on anything made today.

I see one or 2 new civics around. 10 years ago, EVERYONE had a civic. as those reach 200k and hacked to shit by ricers, we all move on. A lot of us already have. If they want to make a come-back, they better do it soon.... because the CR-Z didn't do it, and if it still weights 3400 lbs with 200 hp, that won't do it either.

The only thing that will get me back to Honda, Nissan or Toyota will be a mid level hp car, rwd or awd with luxury like power options and seat warmerw for under $35k. The only thing that appeals to Lenin the market right now is a g37 and most of the BMW lineup.

they need to make a genesis...

oh, wait....

They don't make it because they will lose money on it. It costs billions of dollars to design, and tool up for a new (rwd) platform. The Genesis sedan and coupe sold for a combined 3k last month. They are losing their asses on that one. It does, however, generate excitement for the brand. Honda has nothing exciting.

My definition of exciting is not to have something do everything for me. In a few months Honda will be launching an automatic ass wiping device.
