i'm thinkin about droppin a stock b20 into my 92 integra gs-r with my b17 vtec head. is that a do able swap?

No this will be like any other LS Vtec swap. Need LS Vtec kit, 94-01 GSR water pump and timing belt, B17 head gasket and new 94-01 GSR head bolts. While I feel the B17 is an over stroked under powered B16(it should have made more HP/TQ being bigger that a B16) I would want to keep the B17 motor in the original chassis. Honda only made 2,500 GSR's from 92-93 for the USDM (all JDM teg's had B16) so it is a rare car to find. I would just beef up the B17 with some cams and head work, bore to 1.8L and put some ITR pistons in + some tuning. That will get you some good hp and keep a rare car in one piece.

Actually I would sell the GSR and buy another G2 and swap that with whatever you want and have money left over. :p

You want the B20 head gasket... you want the headgasket for which ever block you're going to use.

Sorry in this case you are right. The B20 has a 83mm bore and the B16/B17/B18 has a 81mm bore. So you will need a B20 head gasket. But it all other cases a Vtec or Ls head gasket will work just fine.

In ALL cases I would be right lol.

The VTEC head gaskets have a hole for oil supply from the block to the head. You block off that hole anyway with a plug tapped into the head since you will supply the head the oil in another way I.E sandwich adapter, and the non vtec block you will be using doesn't have that hole anyway. So you will just end up having a gasket with a hole in it for no apparent reason lol.

Plus the dowel pin size on the vtec engines are smaller than the non vtec so you wouldn't be able to fit the vtec head gasket dowel pin holes over the slightly larger non vtec dowel pins.

Sure they make these LS/Vtec kits now that come with tapered dowel pins and such but this is about Vtec gasket vs non Vtec gasket, not the Vtec gasket will work if you do this, or get that, ect...

And the B20 bore is 84mm, not 83.

Bore size is 84mm.

B17 head is the same as any other B16 head, it's stamped PR3.

I wouldnt run larger than a GSR cam, unless you want your pistons and valves to meet.
