getting back into the honda game have questions bought a build
got a b18b block and a gsr head

what kind of compression ratios for these? i want 12;5;1 or 12;1
-p30
-ctr's, what do i have to do to make these fit?

heres what i wanna get for the rest of the build
-skunk2 pro2's
-supertech dual valve springs
-titanium retainers
-arp headstuds and rod bolts
-ls vtec kit lol
-440cc injectors
-dc sport headers 4-1
-punch it .20 over
-and a SERIOUS TUNE

made 210whp in the last car with 12;1 compression and that same build on 93 octane daily drivin no issues at all

help me out guys, thanks

Shot Peen the LS rods too....or get aftermarket. And micro polish the crank to balance it. From my readings....it sounds like the bearings are pretty important (in terms of getting the right size ones for the job)

You dont need that large of injectors, your stock ones will even work fine or under 250whp NA build. If you plan for high revs and high power I you get a crank griddle and balance the bottom end. I agree with the DC header, you can get a no name that is as good as a DC. I you get a Hytec Tri Y replica header they are great headers for high na hp and under $200. You will need GSR water pump and timing belt. Also some form of crank case ventilation like a PCV or custom oil catch can to relieve crank case pressure. P&P the head and intake mani for some free hp. I did mine, it was very simple.

Are you serious? You're stating he'll be fine on 240cc injectors? When I built my motor I used RC 440's. They were at 89% duty cycle. He'll max out the 240's, plain and simple.

Crank GIRDLES are unnecessary. He'll be fine w/out it. As with any build/rebuild the bottom end should be balanced. You're machinist will tell you this when you take the block/rotating assembly in to be bored/honed and have the ARPs installed.

As for "free HP" from porting your IM/head, that's a bit scary to do. And since you have no before/afters dyno # or track times I wouldnt go around saying its "easy to do" and "free".

Yeah stock injectors max out at around 200whp but are still safe to use. And yes it was free for me to do did not cost me one penny. And it is simple to do a mild port and polish to a Vtec head as they are well designed from the factory. I was a machinist for 8 years and have been a mechanic for about as long. So i am well qualified to do this type of thing but it was my first head porting. It is not for everyone though. No I dont have any before numbers to confirm gains but I do know what Ls Vtec set up should make. If I make a little more then I can assume it was my head work. As for the engine girdle(I can admit I cant spell) I would not rev past 9k without one even with a built and balanced bottom end. Honda put an engine girdle on the Vtec motors for a high reving reason. I am not using one one my build but I only plan to rev to 8k and make 180whp after cams.

Ya, assuming is always the best way to prove gains.

You realize a B16 doesn't have a girdle right?

Never said I was trying to prove anything. I had the head off and decided hey why not clean up the casting marks in the head, can make it any worse. All I did was smooth and polish out the ports and port matched the intake. The casting leaves behind lines and ruff spots, anyone that has had a head off or seen the inside of the ports knows what I am talking about. No B16 does not have a girdle dose not need one because of the near perfect R/S and balancing. Everyone one this forum is so darn critical about everything. No wonder so many people call Honda lovers Ricers. Some of us have a true passion for these cars and motors. I am enjoy getting to work on my Civic and doing all the work myself, as many of us do. I also enjoy taking to other people about Hondas that are into them also. This is the only place forum, shop, people on the street where the people are so objective and criticizing.

Dude, I've had my fair share of cylinder heads off and yes I've seen in the intake/exhaust ports, I know what you're saying. but for the average enthusiast its not something most would be comfortable doing or tackling on their own.

As far as being critical/objective, have you ever been to Honda-Tech?

Yep I am a member of Honda Tech have been since 2009, back when I had my old D16Y5 under the hood. Not saying I have been a member forever or longer than anyone.
