i have a 1990 civic dx with a b16 but im confussed with the wiring. if i buy the 1991 si engine and dash harness will everything plug up fine and work?

Yes it will. The "dash harness" is actually everything from the tail lights to the two plugs in the engine bay for the engine harness, all the way up to the headlights. You would still need to make, or have made for you, a v-tec harness. As well as do all the usual pin swapping at the ECU plugs. You could get a pre-made easy to install engine harness from monotech for your DX stuff, look him up on this forum.

Edit: if you do get the Si stuff just make sure you get with the harness all of the relays/fuseboxes/everything.

the dash harness is a separate harness from the CHASSIS/CABIN harness. the dash harness is attached to the DASH...

Why go through all the trouble of having to source the cabin harness and engine harnesses, swap them over... wiring the car for MPFI is easier than you think. If you know how to follow instructions you, just like anyone else can do it. By swapping harnesses you're making a lot more work for yourself.

Shit you are right, there is that little harness for the cluster and buttons. Like I said in my post, if he is scared of doing the wiring himself he should just contact monotech. For around $100 you'll have a really easy to install and very professionally made harness. He even sends you a sheet with the few instructions you'll need in color.

Sorry i meant chassis harness. and since i have all the si harness doesn't the si come with vtec? and the plugs to the fuel pump are they different?

The 88-91 Si did not have a v-tec D16. SOHC non v-tec.. like 110-115 hp? 88-91 Civic/CRX in the US are all fuel injected so the fuel delivery is all the same. DPFI, FI still stand for fuel injected even if it is a bastardized carb system. Actually in an ED the fuel pressure a stock pump produces is 50 PSI. So, you have no need to worry about that unless you turbo. It's only 40 PSI in a Del Sol v-tec (b16a).

The Si harness will obviously not match the DX wiring. So you either need to convert the whole car to Si wiring, work with the DX DPFI engine harness, or save yourself the hassle and message monotech.

i had my friend do the dpfi to mpfi but its running funny. not sure if he messed up or what but i wana do what ever is easy yet cheap. i dont have 150 to spend on the harness needed?

More importantly, did your friend have any idea what he was doing...?

Sorry to say, but if he messed something up and has no idea how to figure it out and you dont either, you're best bet is to take it a near-by shop and have them diagnose and fix the problems.

This is right. If he didn't wire it up right it could have fried the injector circuit in the ECU. This happened to me untill I figured out the wiring was bad.

And this is going to cost you more than a custom harness. Save yourself the hassle of trying to save money cause it is going to cost you more by trying to be cheap. It happens every time when you don't know what you are doing.
