For those that have boosted cars, no matter what the make.

Do you let your car sit at idle and let the turbo cool after a drive? And if you do, how long?

depends on how you drive. if i go get groceries, no. if i'm driving "spirited", then yes. for about 30-60 seconds. most turbo timers do this for you.

i dont do it, unless i just was driving it hard.

Same as everyone else said if drivin hard then yeah let it sit for a minute if drivin normal then just 30 seconds..

when i had mine i jus bought a hks turbo timer and set it for 60 seconds no matter how much i drove it jus becuase i didnt want to take any chances but its all ur own preferance my buddy never lets his sit and hes never had any problems so far.

I watch my egt gauge and when it drops down way low I go ahead and kill it. Like everyone else said if you were driving hard it will take longer for this to drop and if not it only takes a minute or so.

I 'plan' my stops. Before i know i'm going to park somewhere, i drive like a grandma for a mile or 2 to let everything cool down and stay out of boost, then i give it 5-10 seconds at idle before i officially shut it down.

my turbo is watercooled though as well, and the owners manual even states a cool down is not necessary and won't void the 100k warranty :)

cool guys, thanks, i was just curious to what anyone might suggest

This is a very good idea you have.

I will try this- although I tend to have the problem my foot not being able to stay out of the gas. I have found that there is never the need for a cooldown at Wal Mart. By the time you actually get a decent parking spot- you can just pull in and shut it off lol. Place is retarded ridiculous.

If I remember to leave it on for a while I do, otherwise I dont. If I blow the turbo up then the new one will be bigger.. :)
