Hello everyone. I recently bought a 1991 crx(450) and a 91 integra ls motor($100) the car is in pretty good shape and the engine has everything but the transmission. First off my plan is to build a reliable turbo engine and learn in the process. I dont know that much about a swap or motors for that matter but i'm doing alot of research but have specific questions to ask and cant find anyone. Any one in the Augusta Ga area willing to speak to me would be great! What is the estimated final cost of building the motor and everything also what is a realistic amount of boost to run daily? I have an idea of 4-5k and 10-15lbs of boost, crazy? Any help would be much appreciated. Oh and I plan on doing the swap and work at the auto craft shop here on Ft Gordon.

Im going to tell you what i hear everyone say to the post like this

The price all depends on what parts you get. and how smart you spend your money.
You could spend 2000 dollars for a setup someone pieces together for 1000, so its really all up to you.

and how much boost is irrelavant really. How much boost you push all depends on a)the parts you use
-better quality will last better
b)the size of the turbo
-bigger turbos make more power per lb of boost
c)how good your tune is.
-If you have a shitty tune you could blow your motor on 2lbs im sure
 
after watching alot of videos of general engine building im sure im getting in over my head but that wont stop me. any body have tips or golden rules involving this type of swap? What parts should I use on the block? Is sleeving the block necessary? what about parts for the head? I watched the b18 block build by evans-tuning on you tube. Is it going to be just like? Thank you for the help in advanced.
 
find a transmission, ecu, harness, mounts, etc and bring me the car (canton/woodstock area) and i will do the whole swap for 500 bucks, you can drive it home, thats without the turbo installation

evans tuning is an awesome source for info. i think youre talking about the video in which they assemble a GSR. if so, it will be very close to your engine. a few tips for building an engine:
keep your work space organized. bag EVERY set of bolts and label them. keep everything extremely clean. id suggest cleaning out your shop or garage before even starting. dust and dirt are not good while assembling the engine.
keep a manual or sheet of paper close by with ALL the torque specs for the bolts on the engine, and an exploded view of the engine wouldnt hurt either.


find a transmission, ecu, harness, mounts, etc and bring me the car (canton/woodstock area) and i will do the whole swap for 500 bucks, you can drive it home, thats without the turbo installation

Well I think if found the best plan for me. I want to find a crx b18 with a swap already in it. Rebuild the motor that I already have then swap out. Sounds AWESOME!!! anyone know where I can find one now? Thank you all for all the help. We are getting the engine this weekend then are going to put it in the garage and wrap it in plastic until we can get to it in 2 weeks or so. I have a buddy who has really good attention to detail and will slow me down if we missed a step. I have purchased, the honda swap book, the b series build book and also xtreme honda b series engines. I think im ready to go, how about you guys?
 
the problem youre going to run into when buying an already swapped honda is this:
the car will be hacked to shit, salvage title, beat to hell and back, and half-assed in every way possible, but cheap
the car will be somewhat clean, but the swap has something wrong with it (missing parts/pieces, etc.) still fairly cheap
the car will be very clean and well put together, but salvage title (no value)
the car will be extremely clean and well put together, everythings done right, but the owner wants an arm and a leg for it because it is a clean title

sometimes you get lucky and find a middle ground, but buying a modded honda is somewhat tough now that everyone and their brother has modded one (and most have done so half-assedly)

I will sell you mine for 3000 bucks, its a 1990 Crx Si with a JDM b16a, gsr tranny, hasport mounts, i/h/e , runs amazing, traction bars, adjustable coilovers, much more, all done right, look at my pics on my page or check out the threads, your b18 will be a direct replacement for the b16 and you could use my jdm pr3 b16 head and do a ls/vtec, 3k and u can drive it home, its sittin on fat 5's also with 90% tread left
 
Clean title, its my DD, great gas mileage, everything done correct, and its got almost 1500 bucks in mounts alone ,lol I need the money lol
