Hey guys,

Ive been searching for a little over a week in regards to what my problem can be. The car will be going to a shop on Friday, but im trying to avoid the 85$/HR.

I am running a JDM B16A (2Nd generation OBD1).
I have a P06 Chipped to P28 with Vtec.

CEL is on, always has been since swap, when jumped reading solid CEL... -.-.

Anyways, to the problem.

Last week I filled the oil, put in probobly 1 Litere too much, and also took off the Vtec Solenoid to check the screen and gasket, everything seemed fine, bolted the 3 10m bolts back in. Drained some oil so it was at the right level and ever since I have had the following problem:

When shifting, car tends to backfire when switching gears(1 in 10 switches).

Here is the main problem:

When the car is in any gear, (1-5) and if I floor the pedal, the RPM's will go up(1st gear when floored will go near 4K and then drop to 2K and continue rising and gaining speed as usuaul), whereas if in 4th gear if i floor it it will go to 6K RPM, with gaining almost no speed at all, and then after 5-8 seconds or so it will adjust down to the appropiate 3K RPM(etc.) and begin gaining speed as it should.


To recap the problem Shorter: Floor Gas, it gains RPM, but Little speed, then it will go to the correct rpm and gains peed after 5-8seconds or so.

Any help or tips, or anything would be greatly appreciated.

Im not actually sure about the CEL, when I had the P30 in it(Just to check codes), the only codes it was throwing was Vtec Solenoid(Becuase it was not hooked up). I have not yet had the Vtec working in this car yet although it is wired to work, also forgot to mention that it is running really rich.
 
sounds to me like your clutch is destroyed and slipping like crazy

but you need to find out what your CEL is on for and fix that too

The Clutch.. Hmm I know about a week and a half ago I replaced the Slave Cylinder, becuase it was done for, and since then the clutch has felt strong, it goes into gears fine, would that be a problem with Rising in RPM but not speed, and then balancing itself out? Its a strange problem, usually I can fix any problems that arise but this has my tongue

yes... im not talking about how the clutch engages or disengages with the pedal... im talking about where the actual clutch disk and flywheel meet...

if your RPMs are jumping up, but you are not accelerating at a rate consistent with the gear and RPM, its because is the clutch disk is slipping against the flywheel...
might be a bad clutch disk, might be a bad worn out pressure plate, might be a shot flywheel that is glazed to shit... probably all 3

the reason it catches now is because as it heats up while slipping it gets traction and holds... that will stop happening soon... and eventually you just wont be able to move

Thanks a lot for all of the information, I do appreciate it a lot, believe me.

I will be taking the car into the shop to get all 3 replaced, might aswell since it will be accessable =).

now mind you... this will not fix your CEL or your running rich... you still need to take care of those as well

Most definetly, I will update this when I get out of work with the codes it is throwing :D

Hey Guys,

To follow up,

Replaced Clutch and had Flywheel(That had like a 4mm groove.. shot) Resurfaced, Problem is now resolved.

Updated thread so others with the probelm will be able to know that it was successful with a resurface to fix that probelm.

What were the codes? I was guessing O2 sensor.
