That's horrible! What an ass. I wouldn't have let the guy drive in the first place, but still that's terrible. I hope this guy can win and get that douche bag locked up. 
wow, every dealership around here wont hire you if you have a driving record of any kind like that.
you cant have any moving violations for the two years prior to applying for the job, and you cant have any dui's or major things like that at all.
but, maybe thats just around here.

Obviously this dude should have never even gotten a sales license to being with let alone one for driving, especially if he was trying to drift an evo. Then the guy says he will show you how it's done and the kid actually got out of the car and let the dude drive, dumb... I hope he wins his case.. but he and his dad were partly responsible. People today are to scared to say anything.

it certainly sucks, and i'm not a heartless bastard, but it looks like mistakes were made on both sides.
- dealership hiring someone with a bad record who obviously wasn't 'reformed'. my record certainly isn't perfect, but i would NEVER take a car sideways with a potential buyer in it. that's just dumb. all it does is show that you beat on cars. Even if nothing tragic happened, I would leave that dealership.
No, wait, i wouldn't go for a test drive with someone else driving. it's like watching porn. Someone else is test driving it, so it doesn't count. There's also no statement about asking the salesman to slow down or stop.
- father was probably not wearing a seatbelt, as it's highly unlikely to get thrown from a car with one on.

I do agree that there was fault on both sides. First problem is that there's no way in hell that dealership should have hired him. I can't believe their insurance company agreed to cover him, if they even knew about him working there at all. I'm not saying he's bad because he has a record- but the extent of his record should have had them concerned. This: "had pleaded guilty to DUI, careless driving and harassment charges" probably should have raised some red flags. But- even then- as was said by others on here- the guy should NOT have let him drive, and the dad especially should have said something. Also, if the guy was going as fast as they are making it sound in the article- one of the passengers should have said something then. I do agree with B 100%- there are tons of facts missing out of the article. Still, it's a shitty situation, and I still think the guy should take some responsibilty for taking someone else's life, and if he has a previous record- he's more than likely gonna get hit hard for this one. And I also agree with B in the fact that even IF they would have made it back alive and on one piece, they should have walked away from that car quick fast and in a hurry cause there's no telling how many times that car was driven like that before they got in it.

Yes the salesman is at fault for causing the accident - but the father WASN'T wearing a seatbelt and it clearly states in the article that the salesman and son WALKED away from the wreckage. Cars are meant to keep you inside during a collision, so they can protect you.
I'm so fucking tired of seeing people die in accidents that would be otherwise an inconvenience if they just had been wearing their seatbelt. To be a heartless bastard, anyone who doesn't wear their seatbelt deserves whatever injuries occur as a direct result.

see im on the other side of the fence about the seatbelt thing. having experienced a high speed rollover first hand, had i been wearing my seatbelt i would be dead.

My mom has been a EMT for 15 years and has seen everything, and has dealt with a lot more people getting hurt worse with seat belts on. But she still does enforce wearing one as for this situation when being thrown from a vehicle... I have a fear of the seat belt locking up and not coming undone if like the car catches on fire, or I run it into a lake or pond... Just my $.02 But this does not justify what the guy went through..
In my recent accident had I not been wearing my seatbelt I'd have been dead. I think the dad was a dumbass for not wearing a seatbelt, but had the salesman not taken the risk, nothing would have happened. The salesman should have taken charge and said "you need to put that on."

The back seat Is a must on wearing a seat belt it is easier to fly out of a car in the back seat..
regardless of the seatbelt, this guy was at fault for an accident.
