Hey everyone

I am continuing to learn about honda and engine swaping,
I am having fun but need some clarification about some fundamentals that are fuzzy to me.

I have a 1993 cx, stock d15b8, manual
I have a 2000 dx, stock d16y7, manual

I would like to transfer the d16y7 into the cx.

Why can't I use the 2000dx ecu.
Or can I if I replace all wires from ecu back using the wiring harness from the 2000dx. What am I missing here?

I understand that I could use my obd1 dizzy and injectors on the d16y7 and get a d16 p06 ecu.

You could run all the wires and splice in OBD2 components to make it all work- but running with the OBD1 ECU and distributor is MUCH easier.

Thanks,
someone suggested I get a P06 obd1 ecu
I think I have a P05 obd1 ecu now will that work with the larger d16 engine

Can anyone explain ecu fundamentals, I know the each engine comes with its own ecu.

I don't know all the ECU codes off the top of my head, but whatever came with the DX/LX (D15B7 engine) will work close enough for the D16Y7. None of the 5th gen Civics came with a 1.6L non-VTEC, so you'll just have to use the ECU for the 1.5L.

Correction Cal they did have a 1.6 non vtec in a few years... They made a p05 and p06 the p06 has a higher rev limiter and a slightly different fuel/air curve...

I originally had a bad b8 head and was just going to swap engines with the DX I also own.
Thanks for your input, I obvoiusly have no interest in H.P. soo...

I have just come across a cheap B7 head.

I am currentley researching what I would have to do to make that work. From what I have read so far it looks pretty good

I plan to part out the 2000dx.

Thanks again Hondafreak & Calesta, it seems some of the responses to posting can be a little ruff, I appreciate ya

In the OBD1 USDM Civics? 92-95? Which one?

Jswike, I don't have the p06 ecu if i run across one I will get it, you think everything will bolt up good, I am hoping so, going to try to get this done soon.

I was told the head was off of a d15b7, i am thinking that makes it a dx, i also have the dizzy that went with that head it has 2 elec. connectors coming off of it, I don't know anything else, why?

D15B7 1992–1995 Honda Civic DX/LX 9.2:1 102 hp (76.1 kW; 103.4 PS) @5900 98 ft·lb (132.9 N·m) @5000 16-valve SOHC

D15B8 1992–1995 Honda Civic CX 9.1:1
83 ft·lb (112.5 N·m) @3000 8-valve SOHC
Found this on Wiki so who know if its true

Yup research it. Make sure it's a real zc. Consider it a 1.6 ls motor.

Again, don't know the ECU designations- but there wasn't a 1.6L D series block non-VTEC block in the MY92-MT95 USDM Civics.
