Golden EG
YouTube - Nissan 200sx pop out gauges

I wanna combine the two parts, By using the stealthy vent flip down, but insert gauges in it liek the top piece. Im thinkin of doing it on the top vent of my EG dash :

But im not a super computer wizard. I have moderate level of wiring and soldering etc but not when it comes to "robotics"

Anyone have any idea so i can start down the right path of reasearch.

Or molest a cup holder from an ek... and question... when will you want to not see your gauges? just seems a little...

Xzibited.

Well i want my car to look sleeperish, but maybe key-on, and the gauges come up, and key-off gauges go down. Or maybe a button?

I think it would look sick.. someone could walk by and not see gauges, but they would be in plain site for me to see while driving.

@92stoccord - I was thinkin about doing that, But im still stumped on the whole actuator thing.

Im willing to buy parts and pay someone of such knowledge to co-produce this setup with me.. Potential Patent for a honda specific version of the setup shown for the 240.

Or maybe take some one-on-one discussion on how i could do this particular set up, because ive found a variety of ways on google and not sure which is more practical or will even work.

Update:

I found some R/C airplane micro servo's for 8$ a pop. Sounds about perfect for my setup right?

Edit: Or maybe ill just take the easy way out and have this made, a guy on HT forums made this and is planning a mass production.

I've always wanted to do this with the passenger side airbag in the Teg. In some magazines in the past, people had salvaged Tegs, aka no airbags or deployed airbags, and rather then just getting a JDM delete, they mounted gauges. None of those were movable though. Definitely a trick little sleeper addition.

I want it automated, that would turn heads to anyone riding shotgun.

Its pretty easy.

you need to make a frame. a pivot point where everything is going to rotate up out of.

you need an actuator, or even a RC servo would work. (that was a clever idea)

Then a relay system connected to your ingiton system that sees key on, or even hook it up to your remote wire off your radio.

The frame will be the hardest, as you need to make it fit right, be flush and work smooth. you can build it on your desk after you get all your measuments out.

you can use a computer power supply for testing. as its a dc 12 volt system. You might even be able to find a computer supply store that sells actuators.

The RC servo would be the easiest as they are only 3 wire, power, ground, and signal. They stay in the same postion as long as power is going to them, run the power to constant hot, ground, and signal to hot with key on, run some linkage and thats that.

Awesome, ill def look into this when i get spare spending money. If i ever do manage to start this project ill def start a build thread.
