I hate my girlfriends driving so much. She's an absolute terrible driver. Worst part is she thinks she's a GOOD driver. How do you convince someone that they could benefit from autocross or some sort of driving course? Annoys the fuck outta me.

"you suck at driving, and if you ever expect to be behind the wheel with me in the car you need to take some lessons"

this...

or if you want to be more tactical, sign up for the class and take it with her. take her out to the track chaz. go down to pacific raceways and sign up. you will LOVE the course there. once you get your lapping license, you can go down there any time you want for track days.

wear a helmet every time you get in her car...
that should get the point across

LMFAO. Good idea. Just casually get in with a full face helmet and leathers.

That sounds like the best idea. ^^

The biggest thing is to make her understand that she's a shitty driver. I've only been in the car with a few girls who were shitty drivers, and after that ride, I asked them if they'd like me to drive instead -- all said yes.

PROTIP: If she doesn't enjoy it, she won't be as good at it.

the driving school is for everybody though. it teaches really good skills. cornering, hard braking, passing, etc. and you can take your own car or use a chevy cavalier. it cost more to use theirs though. you can also do a lotus if you want

I did a summit point school in my fit. I wanted one of the instructors to do a few hot laps with narration in the fit, but apparently their insurance won't let them drive a student's car. :(

go on a lapping day once you get your license. then you aren't a "student".

I disagree.

While I certainly did "stupid" things when i was younger, I was always alert to said danger level.

I NEVER did anything stupid with passengers.

I STILL refuse to drive with some people because I don't trust their skills if a situation should arise.
+1
I've had passengers ask me to push the limit with them in the car, and I've flat out told them no. The track is for limits.

My mom did the same summit point school, and thought she was hot shit until I convinced her to autocross with me. I beat her times in my fit. :D She was in a 2008 328i.

Yeah, I probably should have come back on a track day, but the track days cost so friggin much at SP.

this was a pretty off topic thread jacking... but still a good topic, so i split it all off into its own thread

carry on :)

I've been hearin commercials for that 911 Driving School and have been considering that. We don't have anything more advanced around here. Just need tosee if my insurance provider will knock a few dollars off the tab.

Damn them :( It would still be good to do I think. I'm always down to get me some learning. May be something fun for the old lady and I to do too.

doubtful. You've likely already taken a 'defensive driving class' just to get your license.

 drivers-ed is completely different and has absolutely nothing to do with a defensive driving course

and whether or not you get a discount for the class depends on your insurance co and whether or not they accept the provider of the class
contact your insurance co and ask them if they offer a discount and if they recognize that school

at very least you might learn some useful skills

That's what I am thinking. Its never a bad idea to get a different take on things.

I just told the wifey about this thread. the "put on a helmet" comment didn't go over well.

now she's saying that if i let her drive more than twice a year it wouldn't be so scary.

my women never drives if i am able. so drunk or when she drove me home after surgery are the only times she drives when im in the car...
