b18a guts into b18c

Yup. That's how I built what was essentially a B20/VTEC inside of a GSR block. I used an 89mm stroke crank in the B18C block. Bearings are interchangeable between B blocks.

Works great but you lose revs, unless you use forged internals.

B20 vtec with gsr crank torque and revs!

No, you can replace rod bolts with ARP fasteners to keep things together. Proven to work up through 8000rpm with no issues.

For about the same amount of cash you could pick up a set of Probe Ultralite I beams. They'll hold upwards of 600hp, but weigh a lot less, giving you more free revving capability and more torque to the wheels since you're moving less engine mass.

well i picked up the b18c1 block today, only thing that wasn't in it was the crank, rods, and pistons. bores just need a hone. got it for $70.. not bad i guess.

damnit... the block didnt come with piston squirters. anybody got some they arent using? honda wants 11 for the squirter, and 16 for the bolt.

I have arp rod bolts. We only rev to 7800 on stock ls rods.

With the gsr crank and rods we go untill the motor stops making power or up to 9500
Which ever comes first.

With valve train

Ok.

Just plug em up you will have a bit better oil pressure

Yup.

You only want to plug them if you're running forged pistons right?

I never had one with squirters- but always ran forged pistons.

I guess people run B20's with those RS machine cast itr type pistons and it has no squirters. High revving, might want to get some anyways. However, I believe they need to be modified to work with the b18a/b crank/rods.

i have forged pistons in my b16 with no interference problems. i got the block because i wanted the squirters, and so i dont have to run oil lines/adapters for vtec. i had an ls block already, i just figured it'd be less trouble with a vtec block.
plus, you gotta love the sexxy girdle, and the squirters probably keep the pistons cooler.

My problem is that my piston skirts kept knocking off my squirters, so I blocked them off.

what size bolt did you use to block them with?

I just picked up a gsr p&p head...
it has J P and a number after it stamped on it, anbody ever seen or knows who's stamp this is? pnp looks excellent, just trying to put a name behind it..
