i love it how no one helps him.

the first guy walking by gave him a look and didn't jump or turn when the gun shots went off. he was in on it.

"As Mr Winn collapses and lies twitching on the ground, his attacker flees the scene and witnesses rush from local shops to see what is happening."

I must have missed that part. The crazy thing is that it was in front of his uncle's shop...still no one helped.

"HEY!! somebody shot your nephew. i think he may be dying"
"hmm... i told him so. shouldve listened. go out there and keep an eye on him, i have to finish this order"

And this is what our society has come to. A guy is gunned down and the most anyone is bothered to do is stand around and look.

guy could have been a huge douche.

or they know who did it and knew better than to try to intervene lest they be next.

Not everyone walking by on the street would know that guy so the douche argument doesn't really hold true. My point is we have allowed things to go to hell by our inaction. I mean the guy gets shot and they just stand there and look. Maybe someone inside called 911 I don't know.

Flatbush, while not being South Central, is an extremely dangerous neighborhood. When friends work in the area, they don't leave the job site. And people probably didn't help out of fear. I've heard of shooters shooting anyone that tried to help in Newark and Jersey City, so why not a few miles away in Flatbush? I've even heard of EMTs being shot for trying to save the wrong person's life.

Just another reason ill never live in the big city. I have zero desire to live some place where I to get hit by a car or a stray bullet folks will just walk on by because of fear or because they just can't be bothered to help.

Flatbush is much different than Manhattan, Astoria, or even other parts of Brooklyn. You wouldn't ever want to live there. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in the metropolitan area, this just isn't one of them.

yeah, if i were in an area like that, i dont think i would do much either.
dudes been shot twice almost point blank, i'll dial 911 on my phone, but i wouldnt stop walking.

in my area, i'd help.

people got too sue happy. if someone rolled him over to put pressure on the wounds, and he died anyway (which will liekly happen anyway), now that guy can be held lliable for his death just as much as the shooters, at least in a financial aspect and long drawn out court case/fees.

The lawyers and the bitch people behind them have made helping someone something that you basically SHOULDN'T do any more.

You're stuck in a car that's on fire? I'm going to let you burn. Because I might pull you out, but the accident broke your neck so now your paralyzed, and it's my fault.

Unless i know you, I'm not going to save you. I'll call 911 for you and thats about it. If i don't know you /your family, i'm putting my own life on the line... and for what?

well, theres a catch to that B

most places have a good samaritan law. if you are in the position to help and potentially save the life of a person, you are legally responsible for doing so.

but, the catch is, they can still sue you.

if you are in a position and you do nothing, and it results in somebody dying, and somebody can point you out and they choose to pursue, you can be charged with manslaughter.

like the case in cali, i think cant remember for sure, the person saved her FRIENDS life, and accidentally paralyzed her, the friend sued her rescuer.

this country we live in, how great it is.

i'im not certifierd in EMT, swimming, fire, or anything else. Going in after someone would simply make me a victim too.

The lawsuit point is very true. Its just plain shitty that its come down to that.
