So I decided to get back into the scene and bought a 95 civic with a jdm d16a vtec. the issue im having is dead on to a blown or gonna blow head gasket. although i don't have water in my oil i still think that its a head gasket problem. it does over heat with running it more than 30 min. also the coolant will get blistering hot and steam back into the reservoir along with evaporating all the coolant and water. recently noticed that the radiator fan wouldn't kick on so i ended up hot wiring it to a switch. helps a little but not much in mid to high acceleration, im looking at to replace the head gasket but just wanted to see if anyone else might have some input as to something else it might be. also its come to my attention that my vtec wont kick in at all. other than it not kicking in whats another way to check if its bad? thanx in advance

patience, we dont always get to stuff right off the bat. but we do our best.

VTEC not kicking in could be caused by a few different things:
1) low oil level
2) dented oil pan
3) solenoid is done for
4) pressure switch is done for
5) you do not have it wired correctly

as far as the overheating issue, if the coolant is getting boiling hot, you obviously have a leaky headgasket. i cant think of anything else that would cause that.

thank you. the over heating problem is the head gasket. hopefully taking care of that this coming week. as far as the vtec, oil level is good, checked oil pan, the wiring is good. as far as solenoid and switch, was hoping there was a way to check to see if it was trashed. guess ill just have to change it out and see what happens.

and not very patient these days being my daily driver and its sitting atm. lol. thank you again.
