Lookin For A Tablet

As some of you know, Im in the market for a tablet. Ill be using it primarily for a digital portfolio for photography while Im out shooting. So, primary concern is screen resolution and picture quality. I dont need a camera or web cam on it at all. Also, I wont need much for preinstalled apps. Just some sort of photo album. I may also use it as for scheduling and e-mail, but not extensively. This makes me lean towards somethin with the Android OS, because I like how easily I can sync Android stuff with all my existing accounts. Finally Ill prally use it to surf the net from time to time, so I want a pretty decent browser. I understand Android 2.1 doesnt support flash, but 2.2 does. Is that correct?

Im open to suggestions on other OS's, but Im fermiliar with Android and like it, so it seems like a good path to take.

B suggested a digital picture frame. I cant find one thats battery powered tho. Also, most of the ones Ive seen a kinda thick. Due to the layout of my equipment bag, thinner is better. Open to suggestions here too tho.

I was lookin at these and think theyre a pretty good fit for my needs.

Apparently the Nook Color can be rooted with Android, and works very well as a tablet. It's also quite a bit cheaper than most android tablets.

I really wanna avoid buying something and having to root it. I bricked my HD2 trying to get it where I wanted it. So Im still edgy about it lol.

After some searching, the ZT-180 V2 running Android 2.2 still doesnt support flash 10.1. There is another option, the Flytouch 3/Superpad 2 that Im hearing mixed reports on. The Flytouch 2/Superpad ran 2.1, then they released a version that ran on 2.2, then followed with the FT3/SP2 that also runs on 2.2 and supports flash. Some dealers sell the FT2/SP labled as the FT3/SP2 because they are running Android 2.2.

Try the BlackBerry Playbook. I got one about 2 months ago and I love it. Dont get a Motorola Zoom. My brother is a Verizon Freak and has to have all the cool shit when it comes out, so naturally he got one and it sucked. He took it back after a week. He said it was just like having a bigger version of his phone. I coppied a small portion of the review of the playbook just to give you an idea. Says its something serious when compared to apple or google(android) systems.

Debate about the perfect tablet size rages on, but we have to say the slightly smallish factor here creates a device that's comfortable to roam with. The light weight certainly makes it easier for reading and the more hand-friendly size makes it feel more comfortable to carry. That size, plus the dark coloring, makes this slate a bit less obvious than much of the competition, which is certainly part of its understated charm.

There's a bunch of Android tablets coming out this year so if you're not in a hurry, hold up off a bit. If you are in a hurry you can search google for android tablets and find a bunch of Chinese made no name tablets in the 150-250 range.

I would get the Samsung Galaxy Tab, my girl has one it;s great. And since the Zoom came out the price had a significant drop through Verizon,

I was lookin at the Galaxy Tab. I liked it, but Ive only messed with that and a Xoom so far. Dont really know what Im lookin for still.

I still gotta read the link about the Nook Color. Id kinda like to just pull somethin outa the box and use it. If I have to start messin with shit thats not already built in, then it wont just stop at flashin Android to it. Then, Ill fuck it up and be out the money lol.

Im not in a big hurry, Ill keep lookin and see what comes out in the mean time.

Also, I tried to use the Play Book at the store and it was confusing as hell. I couldnt really find my way around on it. Maybe I should go try it out again tho.

it doesn't make much sense to wait for the "new technology"...everything is outdated in 3- 6 months. I can see waiting for a a Duo Core Tab as it would be more functional then a cell. Give it a few months the Xoom will drop in price.

yeah i was just gonna suggest that you get it from sprint if you do. i think verizon requires a contract and a data plan.

Yes Verizon required at least a 1 or 2 month contract. I cant remember which.
