What is, in your opinion, the best 4cylinder engine ever 2.0L or under? Non-turbo no supercharger, just N/A motor. By best i mean whatever you think, longest lasting, best performance, most rewarding to build, most innovative, whatever you think "best" should mean.

For me the best would be also in my favorite daily driver i've ever owned which was a Civic CRX with a D16. Amazing gas milage, lasted forever (almost 300k miles) until the car was destroyed by some idiot in a SUV rear ending me.

I'd say the k20z1 from the 06-11 si. More potential and newer technology than a b series.

edit: beat me to it! If you want to stick to a STOCK b series, I'd say the b18c (gsr) coupled with an lsd trans is the best all around swap. The lower static compression means the cylinders see less stress - aka longer lasting. The gsr trans is IMO the best geared for daily use.

i thought it said under 2.0L .. in that case.. K20xx

Not sure what its called but I'd vote the motor found in the BMW 1000RR

makes 200hp and comes in at a whopping 1.0L

K-series make power but they're not the best designed from an aftermarket/reliability standpoint(a lot of aftermarket parts to fix this); I believe the F-series would be a better choice(F20C).

K-series for best performance, B-series as far as reliability/longest lasting
Innovative goes to bike engines

I've heard those make power but didn't know it was close to 200hp!

Too bad they all like using oil.

The gsr I had is the only Honda motor I've had that didn't use oil. Didn't burn a drop even when boosted. Newer stuff is solid though.

We have a 2007 Si. It has always used oil. A b series motor that doesn't use oil sounds like a messed up b series lol

2013, rules change. i'm sure there's some sample builds running already

Formula One engines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2013

The FIA has announced the intention to the change the 2.4-litre V8 engines to 1.6 litre 4 cylinder engines[12] rev limited to 12,000rpm and other energy recovery systems in order to make Formula One more environmentally aware and to attract more commercial partners for 2013.[
