Never done a build myself figured its about time i learned.

iv got a d16a6 that needs some love.i cant find anyone selling one in my area.

"i get the same response from everyone i call"(its rare).

the motor i currently have needs a valve and some block work.

i figured i would go with cp pistons an eagle rods. What bore/rods/crankshaft should i be looking into getting "if the crankshaft is scored"

Also if someone could point me in the rite direction on witch bearing i should replace while im in there/seals/pretty much anything else i should look into replacing.

Should i sleeve the block?if so back to the piston question"witch bore".

is there a specific head gasket i should get? (is there a better brand or is the honda oem good to go.)

is the block on a d16a6 like the prelude blocks?does it need to be sleeved or is the material its made out of strong enough to handle the honing.

should i go N/A,Turbo or stick stock?"i would like to be able to run pump gas"

Arp head bolts worth the money if i go N/A or turbo?

I'm sure i have more questions...haha haven't even touched the head yet.I'm new to civics all iv ever ran is a accord/h22a.

Iv got roughly 3k to work with.If i go turbo iv already got spool, intercooler, piping, injectors and a few other things.

Personally i would just go B series n/a very reliable and will give ya more hp and you will have an all around better motor for any build.

But if your dead set on a d series build... Na would be a good idea if your looking for somewhere around 160whp at best if you want higher than that you will have to go turbo. Ive seen d16 running 8-10psi all day with decent tuning. But remember when turboing a car it is never a bad thing to be too safe so sleeving is a good idea if you have the extra cash. Pump gas should be fine i would suggest 93octane.

I absolutely loved my d16a6 w/ sohc browntop zc head, it was very spunky and great on gas, very good and reliable for DD

I had an a6 in my civic hatch until i blew it. Just do the obd0 to obd1 conversion and get yourself a d16z6 ...

I did and I NEVER missed my a6. (i got my z6 for 250 with tranny)

Thanks for all the input.Im kinda just trying to stick with what i know/have as for as buying a b series i have two h22a's just dont feel like going through all the trouble of trying to dump on into my EF.

Also im kinda stuck with the D series i already bought exedy clutch, fidanza flywheel and innovative's D series mounts haha.pretty much to late to head back.

Apple Valley is in the high desert.in between barstow and san bernardino

hmm water an chucks of steel...thats not good ehh.

Think the gasket was leaking?the cylinder walls dont have any major defects except for the fact that they are smooth as a baby's a$$...

ill prob end up taking the block/head to a shop near here to have them run some measurements for me.

if its not salvageable without a sleeve im either buying another one or building a turbo application lol.

time to start crunching some numbers.

Where's Apple Valley? I've got two D16A6 blocks in my garage that I need to get rid of...

Bare? In good shape?

Im in Fort Worth and may need one depending on what all you got and the condition of my friends car. He was told he had no compression and the timing belt was NOT broke... It ran fine before had then one day it just didnt start. The mechanic didnt pull the valve cover I dont think so I think the belt popped... We will see.
