Fourzerotwo posted on twitter that some stuff is true and other stuff is just lies. I'm really trying to hold off on the rumors. I wanted to know the projected release date and that's it. I really enjoy the single player story and don't want it ruined. Ill probably check with gamestop tomorrow to see if I can pre order the prestige edition.

I checked today, and they said they aren't expecting so much as a preorder ability until is officially announced by ACTIVISION at either E3 or after. Notice I said ACTIVISION and not Infinity Ward, he said that all the game companies were notified that IW has officially merged with Activision, and is no longer its own company. That being said, I will not be buying this game, but renting it instead, seeing as how most of the main dev's that built MW2 are working with EA on BF3.

Hasn't IW already been with Activision for close to ten years now? I'm pretty sure Activision snapped them as soon as the very first CoD became popular.

Anyway, there actually is an official teaser trailer out now. I'm too lazy to link it on my phone, but go to YouTube and search "modern warfare 3 teaser" and you'll find it...

Im saying that basically IW used to be it's semi-"own" company, and now its just a name with activisions people behind it. And, after watching the trailer, I'll believe it, but I still want to see some gameplay footage before I jump on it...

It was the same kind of relationship Bungie had with MS. They where a private company but there contract required them to make games for Activision. But once IW was officially bought up a year ago half the damn company left almost over night.

When CoD4 hit the big time, Activision went to work on strategically merging IW. It started subtly, but halfway through MW2 development most of IW's top talent were itching to bail.

This is how Activision cashes in. They have 2 studios working the same IP, pumping out the same game with a new face every year and people eat it up with a side of $15 map packs.

most people i know arent buying the maps.. whats the point when a new game will be out in 5 months

Yes, that's correct. IW is a subsidiary of Activision. I'm not quite sure what HondaDude heard from the GameStop people though. That just sounds like somebody was confused or BS-ing.

IW was formed in 2002 (I believe), by a group of people who left the EA studio 2015, Inc. after they worked on Medal of Honor. Activision gave them some initial funding to develop a new game (the original Call of Duty). After CoD launched and was successful, Activision bought the rest of IW and have owned them as a subsidiary ever since.

The shit that went down a year ago didn't have anything to do with being bought up (like I said, IW has already been owned by Activision since 2003). The two head guys got fed up with not having enough creative control, not being able to own their IP, and not receiving royalties that they were promised for Modern Warfare 2, so they quit and filed a lawsuit against Activision, and then Activision turned around tried to sue them for breaching their contracts which were supposed to run through 2011.

It was after those guys left that a bunch of other IW employees decided to leave, so Activision had to hire a bunch of new folks (who I'm sure they screened thoroughly to make sure that they would be loyal to Activision overall as opposed to Infinity Ward)...

Meh, I usually buy them. Keeps the game fresh for me. That and I don't like not being able to play with certain friends because I don't have all the DLC...

i'll be getting it.. along w/ Forza 4 that will be coming out around then too

Yeah, I'm not even going to try and be one of those guys that pretends they're not going to buy this. I'll be pre-ordering and playing that shit on launch day just like everyone else in this thread, lol...

thats the thing.. if my friends that i play w/ were to buy them i probably would.. but seeing as i never really play w/ my friends no sense in it.. plus the ones i do play w/ said they wont be buying them

I see a Skorpion, MP5, what looks like a bolt-action sniper and then a semi-auto sniper, the 1887s, the ACR (maybe???), the AK47, the Striker, the noob tube (of course, but it looks like it's got Thumper-style sights on it now), the AA12 (sweet!), some other type of new shotgun, The G36C (from MW1), the M4, and some new type of SMG...

Yeah I guess that makes sense...

I never got close to finishing forza3, didn't buy the new map packs yet for black ops. maybe over the summer i'll get more involved. i just haven't had as much time to game lately.
