hey guys im a noob...i was wondering if a 88 prelude is a good starter car...one of my friends wants to sell me one...he wants to sellit for 1500...

personally i wouldn't , the eairly B20's are junk (so i've heard)if it is an SI. They did come with four wheel steer though. LOL

X2. go with atleast an EF (88-91) or newer civic or teg. Mainly for its ease of versatility.

I'm with the above. 92-00, the 88-91 preludes are just really hard to work on if you're trying to learn about cars, and if something breaks they're also a little difficult to find parts for.

funny you ask. we haven't had any posts about these cars for years. then all of a sudden in the last couple months a bunch of people have been asking about them.

it is literally the WORST honda car to turn into a tuner. it flat out sucks balls. if you want a commuter, great. otherwise, you can find a 92-95 civic hatch for $1500 any day of the week. arguably the BEST platform for a honda tuner.

The bolded part should probably be brought up here more often than it currently is. Like everyone said, the 88-91 Lude is NOT a good choice for a tuner project. That being said, it's by no means a bad car. If you want a sporty little number that gets decent mileage and is fun to drive and is fairly reliable (like most Hondas are), it's a fine choice. If you're looking to modify and turn it in to a project though, I would look for a more popular chassis...

Honda-tech.com .... I saw oh 9 cars in the $1500 price range the other day... also if u Like preludes u an pick up a 92-96 4th gen around $1500... they IMO are a good platform to build on, some what rare, nothing like a civic but eaches there own
