on a serious note, i never knew Iceland was such a volatile place. i knew of the volcanoes, but i had no idea eruptions occur so often. does not seem like a fun place to live lol
 
Isn't the entire island powered by geothermal energy? I would say that makes it a pretty volatile place..
 
yeah they have a few volcanoes (over 130 - 200... with about 35 of them being currently active)

At first maybe, but that's sort of like saying its odd most old cities are by the water. When the area was settled they looked for the warmest areas.
 
The entire iclandic (is it nordic?) langauge is like that.
