So im going up for a retune on the 27th of this month but im extremely anxious about the numbers ill make. My last tune from a horrrible tuner made me 240whp on 20psi on a cast manifold and 2-1/2" downpipe, and ive heard nothing because extremely good about this new tuner. One of his testimonials was how he made a stock D16Z6 (my motor) make 306hp, with just a turbo and tune and so im hoping to well exceed this.

Im looking for educated guess's, i know its impossible to predict exactly but id still like some opinions.

My Setup:

JDM SOHC D16ZC Block
D16z6 Vtec Head
Skunk 2 pro Intake Manifold
BBS 62mm Throttle Body
Ramhorn Manifold
Turbosmart 38mm Wastegate
.50 trim t3/t4
450cc Injectors
255 Walboro pump
Eagle H-Beam rods
Vitara 8.5:1 Pistons
Fresh hone gaskets/seals etc
3" Downpipe/2-1/2" exhaust
Neptune w/ AEM boost solenoid

If he can get stock internals to break the 300 mark, im aiming to be able to do that easily.

Opinions? ( Estimated range of power is fine i.e 200-300hp etc

you'll run out of injector at about 325, so less than that :)

with 450's? Really?

Since i saw youre post, ive been looking into new injectors.. 750's to be exact. I came across almost exact same setup but with 750cc's and they made 404hp.

So im gonna call my tuner tomorrow and discuss injectors and possibly pick up a set from the shop while im there.

Thanks B.

Well seems as though money is going to be the deciding factor here. I cant scrap up enough spare cash to pick up new injectors by friday so ill have to go back, down the road, for a re tune after friday and when i can get paid again. Bleh.

Its a bummer cuz i was hoping for mid 3's and stay that way for awhile.

honestly, you might even come up short of 300whp on 450cc DSM's
its going to be close, but it depends a lot on the tuning of course.

This is discouraging >.< i need those injectors.

dude your car is still going to be fun as hell and haul ass at 300whp. i wouldnt be that discouraged.

I rescheduled for the 8th to allow for bigger injectors and better exhaust. May as well do it right the first time.

Well, running an open Downpipe and the car has been running fine, i had my exhaust hooked back up for emissions (2-1/2" Fujitsubo exhaust w/ magnaflow cat) and it started acting wierd. Everything from overheating, to not making much boost, to bombing emissions HARD CORE, i even managed to blow my wastegate off.. well the bolts managed to unscrew about a half inch on both side, though i had them torqued down pretty good. Thing is i was only making 4psi? Not sure what happened there though,

Tune is in a week, supposed to have a new 3" exhast made before the tune, but i cant get the car to pass emission for the life of me. My numbers are off the charts.

Not sure what'll happen at this point, im starting to get a bit aggravated.

Ive read the thread over and over and shot E a message about it. I wanna get tuned on. 3" cat less exhaust.. So i wanna have it on the car when i get the tune.. Thats why i was ttying to pass emissions now. Oterwise ill have to drop more money on a retune with a larger exhaust later on and thats 200$ i dont wanna have to spend yet again

Your surprised that you failed emissions with an untuned turbo motor?

Ask your tuner if he thinks tuning for a catted exhaust, then takin the cat out will require a retune. He might tell you it wont make a big enough diff.

if there is a visual test just tack a cat shell on to the straight pipe so it looks like one is there
if not then fuck it just tune the car and see how it goes

if you fail after getting tuned, then dump a shit load of alcohol in the tank and run it through

alcohol is significantly higher octane then your average pump gas, so no need to worry about pre-det
and you are going to be running rich anyway so no worries of leaning out

alcohol will not hurt to run on a turbo tune

The car is tuned, my ECU has Neptune with PWM running so they car runs just fine, but i just think the tune was made too rich.

No biggie im gonna have 2 maps made up, one a basic 8psi made with my catted exhaust for legal reasons and the other for my 3" front exit im gonna have fabbed up with V-bands and tuned for power for when i run at the track etc.

But i just got my hands on some Precision 1000cc's, you think ill be about to make about 350whp now?
