Hello all,

I am going to be on the look out to purchase a del sol(I have one currently... but i'm going to sell it, and buy one w/ 0 problems, and start from there...)

Anyway, What is the best engine to build off of in order to gain 300whp, with the possibility to increase it later, if for whatever reason I want to?

I was hoping to find a b16a3 94-95 del sol si VTEC, since it starts w/ 160hp, but... I remember reading somewhere that some d series are better to build off of, is this true?

I was thinking of Supercharging, as opposed to Turbocharging, so that I have power all the way through the RPMs, BUT I wouldn't mind turbo if that is the optimal option.

My main concern, is getting 300whp, atleast, with preferably a supercharge, and I was wondering what engine is the best to work off of. I'd like to avoid swapping, so I'd like to pick an engine that comes stock in a del sol, however, if the option is a h22, or something else, that doesn't come standard in a del sol, I guess I'd opt for that. What do you all think?

if you want room to grow after 300whp, id suggest going with a turbo'd GSR (b18c).
the stock engine can handle 300whp with proper tuning, and you can always build the bottom end and go for more later on.

a supercharger may get you to 300whp, but its going to be difficult to get it much further than that.

So it is much easier to gain power with a turbo as opposed to a supercharger??

- I know how turbo's work... But not familiar with Superchargers, only in the respect that I know it works with your engine, through all the RPMs, as opposed to turbos boosting at certain RPMs etc...

1) b18 with SC for 300whp... but that is basically as much as it will go.

2) b18 with turbo for 300whp, and room for improvement.

If that's correct, what SC kit, or Turbo kit will I be after for those 2 options, and assuming I get a GSR swap from one of the websites online, and then I buy the SC or Turbo kit, is there going to be other things that I will need to buy? Like exhaust, headers, etc?

The odds of finding a b16a del sol are pretty slim these days. If you do find one, it will either be hit, or they will be asking good money.

You won't touch 300 with any supercharger for sale on the market on any honda motor with out significant modifications to said unit and $$$$ in supporting mods.
Turbo is the way to go.

But, you need to do a ton of research before you buy anything because you really don't know what you're getting yourself into.

a car + swap + turbo + not a hack job/running right, you're looking at dumping at least 15-20 grand, maybe more.

15k??

Hmm, about 3-5k for the car, 4-5k for a swap, and is the turbo kit 5k?? I coulda sworn is under 1...

Either way, I guess I never put in to perspective the cost of the car, considering I've had 1 for so long :p But all i'd be looking for then is a good body on the car, So hopefully I can pick one up for under 3k.

Could anyone link a good b18 swap to buy, and a good turbo kit that i'd be after if I am shooting for 300whp?

And btw, I actually saw a b16a del sol with 80k miles go for 3.2k around my area... freaking someone bought it before the guy could get back to me to see what engine it was...

He replied.. It was a b16a3, but someone bought it yesterday... ):

those are the main parts. It's the stuff like exhaust, suspension peieces, fluids, hoses, couplers, etc etc etc that will nickel and dime you and end up being a significant cost

Just a thought but shouldn't you concentrate on getting the vehicle first?

basically you need a motor, a turbo kit, a bigger fuel pump and injectors, and something to tune it with. however, you should also upgrade the clutch, get some more gauges, a catch can setup, and a 3" exhaust.

basically you are getting ahead of yourself here... get a car, do a lot of research on other peoples builds, get in touch with a shop or person that tunes hondas, and then start planning your build.

b18a1/b1 is cheap to find nd will easily get u to 300hp, from research i saw that a stock Ls motor can handle up to 300hp wit a good tune, me myself is still in da process of building a B18b1 turbo, lookin for 400hp reliability....LSturbo baby!!! non vtec

Cheapo del Sol
Cheapo B18B swap
Cheapo DIY turbo

If you read read read and do everything yourself, you could be at 300whp on a turbo for about $3k on top of the price of the car. IF.

So:

b18c =3k: JDM Engine Motor Swap (94-96? or 97-00?)

Greddy turbo =3.4k: Acura Integra Turbo Kits / Turbos / NOS - GReddy Turbo Kit Acura Integra TDO5H-18G Free Shipping

Given those 2 if they were bought. What else would I need to buy? to hit 300 :D

if i was i would just search the forum's and craig's list for a motor swap it may be cheaper...i found my K20a2 swap for 1500 and its almost 5k through vendors. Gettting a motor cheaper means more money for power and you could possibly build the motor depending what you get it for. as far as SC's go it depends on the motor you can get a k24 to hit 300hp pretty easily all motor, and with a k20a2 you can hit 300whp w/ almost any SC by just buying a smaller pulley.

Any proper turbo kit should be much more than 1K. Hell a good turbo will run you more than that alone.

I have always built my own turbo kits. First do some research about turbocharges and how they actually work. Effects of trim, turbine/compressor size, A/R. You will need to now how much air it flows in the efficiency of the turbo to determine the correct turbo. Ive seen cars go faster many times with smaller turbos. Correct turbo choice is key.

From there you will need to get the proper sized intercooler, wastegate and BOV, injectors, Fuel pump, exhaust, ecu, ect..

Or you could just copy someone else and assume it was the best way to go for your money...

Agreed I have seen the outcome of the cheep turbos and kits from ebay and what not. They are almost always junk (a gem every once in a while off CL) and not worth it. The kit alone will run you a good chunk of change and like others say you will need to almost redo the fuel system. And depending on your skill will tuning you may end up spending a good fortune on dyno/tune time at a shop.

Also agree with what some others have said find the car and then worry about the swap and turbo (or SC if you do decide to run that way) I guarantee that the car will have little things here and there that need to be taken care of as well more than likely basic maintenance. (At least that's my experience, of course got my car as someones unfinished project.) Good luck on yours though when you get it started hope it goes well for you.

after ur build u will most likely have to redo suspension and brakes id suggest putting a rear disc swap on any build for the stoppin power
