Lets ban motorcycles!

Made it through the first five paragraphs before I was ready to slap the shit out of who ever wrote that article and had to close the page.

I really doubt anyone will outlaw bikes because of some stupid article written by Hugh.

Best one so far.

askmrjesus at 1:03 PM June 22, 2011 Dear Mr. Curran,

If you are truly interested in public safety, one would think you would be more focused on the leading cause of death in this country: Obesity.

Now Hugh, I've seen your photo, and lets face it, you're a fatty pants. Your cholesterol level is much more likely to end up costing the public money, than all motorcyclists combined. We are, you see, a very small minority in the US, whereas as you, and your doughnut loving friends, are bankrupting the healthcare system, simply because you don't have the discipline to pass up a Baskin Robins every once in a while.

Of course, that also explains your problem with motorcycles. It's hard to stuff a Whopper into your saggy jowls, while riding one.

The solution seems clear: It's time to ban fat people. Specifically, fat people with online degrees in "journalism", who write articles that are meant to create controversy, rather than be of any informative value.

But wait, that would infringe on your right to stuff your face behind the wheel, while not paying attention to the road, and that, of course, is what America is all about; the freedom from personal responsibility.

I'll cut this short. It's close to lunch time, and I know the KFC down the street from your little cubby hole, has an all you can eat deal this week.

Bon Appetite.

JC

I had to lmao at the fatty response. I love the people who don't know shit about something then turn it into an issue or try to. Just like a lot of people in gov't.

probably 90% of my near crashes were caused by cars and shitty drivers, not by my own accord.

i bet that 72/100,000 would drop to 10/100,000 if we banned cars.

i kind of understand where he's coming from with the safety aspect. i dont think he's trying to imply that bike CAUSE more accidents, but rather when involved in an accident, you are 5-6 times more likely to die, which i can agree with. it seems a lot of people are just nerd raging and taking it the wrong way.

the statistics are retarded though. he should just say that .014% of automobile drivers died in accidents and .072% of bike riders died in accidents. this is hardly "distressing". and i bet his emissions statistics are skewed too, he says bikes produce 10-20 times the NOx, im willing to bet thats on a percentage or volumetric base, and not net.

I don't ride, but I used to drive 75,000 a year with my old job. Most of the near accidents I would see with motorcycles were with cars or trucks not paying attention. But about 25% of them were with motorcyclist hauling ass weaving in and out. Most of the time too fast for most people to see or react. I am all for riding, but what holds me back are all the shitty drivers in my area.

I am all for riding, but what holds me back are all the shitty drivers all over the world.

fixed it for you. it's an epidemic. a disease that takes the lives of the wrong people. it's never the driver that gets killed, it's the paggenger, pedestrian or bicyclist.

Skewing statistics to make it seem like you have a point? NOOO!!!!! What is the world coming too!?!?

My Stats teacher in Grad School showed us an argument where the Pro and Con had conflicting statistics, both very compelling to their cases. Both also happened to use the same exact data. It's all in the statistician's interpretation.

Take any Stats class. It will be hard as shit and teach you one thing; Stats don't mean a damn thing.

Its like when they have a bar graph. the difference could be 5 of one thing and 10 of another. If you only show the graph from 4-11 with tiny notations in the margins, it looks like a huge gap.
