Does anybody know how to put drive axle's back in a 95 Honda Civic. I have just installed a engine in my car and I'm working on putting the drive axle's back in. And I can't get the axle all the way in. There is what looks like a shaft going down through the middle of the hole on both sides and I think that is what's stopping me. Help Please!

that shaft is suppose to be there so thats not it. i normally put the axle nut on and hit it with a hammer a few times making sure not to mess up the threads. but if you are hitting that rod/bar you see make sure you got the correct axle

Tap the housing of the cv shaft with a RUBBER mallet. Be careful not to rip the boot.

:werd: For tight areas I usually use an socket extension and put a little bit of grease on the outside of the boot to prevent the extension from ripping the boot.

Usually with cars its the BFH that works.

put it in the tras as far as it will go... put the other end into the knucle like it normally goes, use the weight of the knuckle to your advantage by pushing it in... lol pushing it in....lol should feel it pop right in..

all this is with the lower balljoint out of the lower control arm to offer free movement... use the tie rid as a guide so you stay linear with the "swing".. also, make sure everything is splined correctly before doing all of this...

I've tried that before; doesn't work as well as a hammer(assuming you're already having trouble pushing it in).

Yes, I even spun-kick the knuckle. Well, more like a spinning back-kick. lol.

I put the axle nut on the end of the outer spline and hit it with a hammer and she went in no problem. Now the lower ball joint is spinning so I can't tighten it, what can I do to stop it from spinning?

now thats a bitch, best way is to do it with air and impact gun. but if your like me and didn't have it at the time, i had to modified a C clamp to put pressure on it so i could tighten it down.

Stick a jack under the lower control arm so it's pushing the knuckle up. This should create enough friction to hold the stud still(if not, try to get someone to push the knuckle down into the LCA too). Also make sure the tapered surface of the ball joint shank is clear of oil or grease.
