Why is there even a debate about having a balanced budget? or even having a budget below revenues so we can pay off the debt?
Its simple fucking logic

our interest alone ($29B) costs every american $100 each month (300m people)

i just don't understand the lack of logic required to think its ok to just keep spending more than we take in
and the solution is to increase revenue, ie: raise taxes...?
its sort of like losing your job and getting a lower paying job because of the bad economy, you have to reduce your expenses and live within your means
maybe no more going out to dinner, or movies
shit makes me want to bang my head into a wall

If i earn $100, and spend $100, i have a balanced budget...

... and no surplus.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Sharing that on FB!

I saw a sign yesterday at our downtown central square. The people were pushing for higher taxes. One sign even went so far as to say "increases taxes for the rich so we can pay for schools".

i wanted to choke the shit out of them. walk up and bust them over the head with their own sign and say, "you stupid motherfucker, "rich people" already pay for a TON of shit they don't use. Why should they have to pay for YOUR 10 kids to go to school? there is already a shitload of taxes.

I fucking hate people.

What really irks me is this whole “class warfare” dynamic the media runs with.

Blacks vs whites, poor vs rich, gays vs straights, pro lifers vs pro choicers... it just keeps us divided as a nation when we really arent all that different from each other.

This entire place is a fucking manufactured conspiracy.

The more I learn and the older I get, the more I come to understand that our entire system is being engineered to produce a specific desired result.

Our fucking food, our fucking cars, our fucking houses...

Keep the people fat, dumb, and happy and there will never be a revolution. Well most people are pretty fucking fat and pretty fucking dumb so, we have two out of three...

Take the word united out of the United States of America and we are doomed.

:concur:

but without a major change in direction... not this "hope and change" slogan bullshit... but a real fucking change...
unless people start paying more attention to their real lives going on around them (and often without them) than the reality TV and pop culture bullshit that they are IV fed
until people start standing up and taking responsibility for their actions (or inaction)
until people start looking to themselves to manage and ensure their own well being
until people start embracing Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT of Happiness

... then we are indeed doomed

there is no such thing as a great government
there are great people, who do great things
and the great people who set up our government knew that government was inherently evil, that is why they tried to lay out a frame work that greatly limited our governments scope, reach, and power...
unfortunately we (as a society) have been chiseling away at those restraints, allowing it to grow larger and more powerful, gathering and gobbling up more and more of our rights and freedoms, expanding its scope, reach, and power, all under the guise of making life easier, and safer for us... because we are by nature fucking lazy... we ant the easiest smoothest path of the least resistance

life is not supposed to be safe and easy
it is supposed to be a challenge
it is supposed to be work
it is supposed to make you feel like you have accomplished something at the end of the day
something that not only can you look back upon and be proud of... but something that others can look upon and be proud of as well

there is no pride left in this country
we sold that out long ago for the chance at the easy road

and someday soon we will be forced to reap what we have sown

People aren't going to "start paying attention" until their lives demand it.

Myself and billions of others get up every day, go to school, go to work, eat good food, drive nice cars, listen to the music we want, go to the beach, wear clothes that we want, and sleep in our comfortable beds with our loved ones, with little to no interruption, so......

...to the unaware, which is most people, everything is all good. If you even have half a clue, you are at the very least nervous about the future of our nation.

It's like Lewis Black said, if you are still identifying yourself as a democrat or a republican, you really haven't been paying attention...at all...

And you are right. We did sell the fuck out.

Just look at our food supply. 90% of our beef from four suppliers...in the WHOLE country?

McDonald's is the single largest purchaser of beef in the nation?

90% of foods contain a corn derived product because some protectionist assholes decided that we should subsidize an unprofitable crop to the point of gross overproduction.

This shit defies the most basic economic tenets yet we keep pumping away at it year after year.

Fat...dumb...happy

An addict of any kind needs to hit rock bottom to truly gain perspective. Rantings from those around them simply don't work.
