Wondering if anyone has any experience with these things? Not necessarily looking, but I'm doing some research. It's about the size I'm looking for, gets decent gas mileage, albeit on 91 octane, and seems to have some utility, what with the hatchback and all, and the price range is about right as well.

If I decide to pull the trigger, it'll be new, so previous abuse won't be an issue, but I can't really say I know anyone that has any Mazda experience.

Any insight would be appreciated.
 
I have 45k miles on my 08 Speed 3 GT and i love it! With the on board avg mpg display, Ive gotten as much as 33 mph on the highway. I average about 28 with mixed highway and surface streets. I haven't calculated the actual MPG, but apparently the on board display is roughly 3 mph high.

I cant speak much for the 2010+ speed 3's, but there are several small differances between the sport and GT packages in the 07-09.. The GT comes with leather seat inserts, an upgraded Bose sound system (that still sucks.. my stock 06 xB has better speakers). It has an on board display that shows current and average mph, average mph and miles remaining. It has automatic rain sensing windshield wipers which can scare the shit out of you, lmao.

The car responds incredibly well to Mods. I have a friend that has an Intake, turbo inlet, FMIC and turbo back exhaust and put down over 300whp and 330tq with absolutely NO tuning.

The clutch is fairly aggressive but you'll get used to it quickly.

Overall, I'm incredibly happy with my Speed 3. If i could go back and do it again, the only thing i would have done differently is that i would have bought an 08.5, which has a head unit that can reas mp3 CD's.

and just bc its new, doesnt mean it wasnt abused.

i used to work at a mazda dealer, and trust me, they get abused. lol.

if you buy new, tell them you want it when it comes off the truck, or has less then 4miles on the clock. anything more than that means that the porters had their fun.
 
BDN had one for a while. He drives like a grandpa and still managed to blow up the head on it somehow.

The Speed MZR 2.3 DISI engine has won multiple awards...the N/A 2.3/2.0, not so much
